Eaton Corporation Supplier Development Engineer 1 in Sijhih Dist, Taiwan

What you’ll do:

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Supplier Development Engineer is responsible for the deployment of supplier development and improvement processes across the Eaton Distributed IT supply chain to achieve improvement in both quality and delivery performance and enhance supplier capabilities to meet future business needs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

A. Work directly with suppliers where quality or delivery performance, or business risk demands robust corrective action and improvement.

B. Utilize expertise and a wide range of tools to identify and lead improvement actions including Root Cause Analysis, Problem Solving, Auditing, Material Management, and Load & Capacity planning.

C. Conduct initial Supplier Site Assessments (SSA) to evaluate risk with New Suppliers prior to their addition to the Approved Supplier List (ASL).

D. Perform capability (Product, Process, Material Management) assessments and where necessary, Special Process Audits with key suppliers to evaluate the application of advanced quality tools, manufacturing capabilities, material management, and lean maturity.

E. On site evaluations of product to accelerate sample evaluation process

F. Support the development of subsequent improvement plans and coordinates milestones and completion of actions.

G. Understand and work with suppliers on the capacity allotted to Eaton Tripp Lite for production.

H. Assess Production Rate Readiness with suppliers that are undergoing significant industrial transfers to ensure risks are understood and coordinates the timely completion of actions to eliminate supply chain disruption.

I. Familiarized or acquainted with agency certification for products it requests for (following the regulatory standard, directive and CDF file) and able to coordinate with some discussion for regulatory issues amongst vendor engineering, agency lab and Eaton USA team. Mentor new supplier for any agency’s factory audit.

J. Work with suppliers on component shortages assisting with procurement opportunities with Spot Buy opportunities.

K. Actively support supply chain cost-out projects and New Product Introduction (NPI) by working closely with suppliers from development through to production launch, ensuring compliance to process, and coordinating on time submission of FAI’s as required.

L. Coach suppliers in the deployment of key business processes such as 8D Problem Solving, Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Material Management.

M. Monitor performance and communicate expectations and required actions for all assigned suppliers.

N. Function as a liaison between suppliers and internal functions (Engineering, Quality, Global Supply Chain, Product Management, Operations etc.) to clarify requirements, facilitate communication and drive accountability for improvement actions.

O. Lead cross-functional teams in the development and deployment of effective supplier related policies, processes, and procedures per ISO9001/14001 and customer requirements; lead the deployment and training of both internal and external stakeholders worldwide.

P. Communicate with the Chicago team via conference call review of supply chain projects and supplier QBR virtual meetings.

Q. Participate in or have knowledge of EICC/CSR/BSCI/SEDEX

Qualifications:

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE:

• Ability to read, write and speak English.

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical or Mechanical) or supply chain management from an accredited institution.

• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, or Supply Chain.

• Basic knowledge of quality systems (ISO9001/14001), methods and practices including APQP, FMEA, Control Plan and PPAP/FAI.

• Strong manufacturing, process, quality systems and root cause analysis experience required.

• Demonstrated experience in problem solving (8-D Methodology, 5 Why's, Root Cause Analysis, Error Proofing, Cause and Effect Diagrams, Pareto Analysis, etc.)

• Demonstrated experience in Supplier Audits and Selection

• Demonstrated leadership in Supplier Risk Management

• Knowledge and application of AIAG quality tools (PPAP, FMEA, SPC, etc.)

• Solid interpersonal communication skills needed to communicate to all levels within Group of companies and with leaders at Supplier organizations.

• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint

• APICS (American Production and Inventory Control Society) certification a plus

• Knowledge of six sigma, lean manufacturing, and corrective action planning, six sigma green belt a plus

• Emphasis on the following systems: Eaton quality Systems (EQS).

• Problem solving tools & methods, including project management functional knowledge.

• Eaton Lean Six Sigma (ELSS) & Continuous Improvement Framework (CIF).
