Responsibilities

-Provide legal counseling to routine business activities of assigned portfolio;

-Proactively and independently participate in strategic projects and provide legal support in a strategic and pragmatic way;

-Draft, review and localize contracts (including contracts for clinical trials, Early Access Programs, Non Intervention Studies, Investigator Initiated Studies, External Collaboration Researches, Feasibility Studies, etc.) and other legal documents for the requirements of daily operation;

-Monitor external legal and industry development, engaged in communication with related government authorities and industry association and peers to understand the most recent legal/policy/industry developments on assigned portfolio, and advise related functions on the legal interpretation, implications and opportunities for the company’s operations;

-Maintain good connection with business leads and Corporate Legal and work with them to identify the needs and ensure effective mode of work to address the local business needs;

-With appropriate consultation from line manager, independently establish, review and update legal-related procedures, policies, guidelines and tools to enable operation efficiency; Provide legal training to related business functions and teams when necessary, and routine training to the contracting team from CD&O;

-Independently manage legal disputes (e.g.: trial participants or patient claims arising from adverse events in clinical trials or marketed products, etc.) through negotiation, mediation or litigation; provide legal support on product protection and government investigation;

-Independently manage and supervise external counsels; Other tasks as designated by Head of Legal & GF.

Qualifications

-Bachelor degree in PRC law or above, overseas education or work in law is preferred.

-Over 8 years post-qualification experience in a reputable law firm or comparable in-house working experience in a reputable multi-national company, familiar with contract and general corporate work; experiences in pharmaceutical or life science industry are preferred; experience in pharmaceutical research and development areas are preferred;

-PRC Bar Qualification is a must;

-Good understanding of PRC law, sound business acumen and commercial knowledge and ability to identify and resolve legal issues effectively and independently;

-Excellent communication skills in both English and Chinese (written & verbal);

-Familiar with Microsoft applications, AI tools and other digital tools available in workspace;

-High sense of ownership, self-motivated, problem solving mindset, hard-working, detail-minded, clear thinker, quick learner, team player and ability to work independently under pressure and understanding importance of prioritization.
