Job Description

We are looking for a Database & Cloud Senior Engineer who will be responsible for delivering our customer infrastructure solutions for on-prem, public, multi-cloud and Cloud at Customer (ExaCC) platforms, understanding the Customer Business to provide the best service.

What you’ll do

  • You’ll support the operation of databases and platform deployments on-prem and in cloud, delivering services that drive customer success and innovation, becoming customer’s trusted technical advisor.

  • Install, configure, and operate database and advanced options like RAC, DG and so on.

  • Deliver solution architecture advice, reviews, and conceptual support.

  • Analyze product problems to find resolutions.

  • Resolve new and complex issues, research technical enquiries, and handle user problems.

  • Support software installation, configuration, health checks, and performance assessments

  • Educate customers on product features, issues, evolutions, upgrades, benefits, and patches.

  • Support the stability, availability, and performance of critical business systems.

Job Requirements, Skills and Qualifications

  • Applicants are required to read, write, and speak Spanish and English with fluency. Other languages are a plus.

  • Deliver services both remotely and onsite (Sevilla area) depending on customer’s requirements.

  • Availability to work on 24x7 Standby mode or in “out of business hours” to adapt to specific customer needs.

  • Advanced problem-solving skills.

  • Written and verbal communication including the ability to communicate with technical and non-technical staff at all levels.

  • Ability to break down complex problems/issues to determine suitability and make appropriate assessments and recommendations.

Preferred Technical Skills:

  • At least 5 years’ hands-on experience in working with Oracle Database products: Oracle Database, Real Application Clusters (RAC) and Oracle Grid Infrastructure, Enterprise Manager OEM.

  • Work experience in Oracle Database, specifically following topics:

  • Troubleshooting

  • Performance tuning

  • High Availability: Exadata, RAC, Grid Infrastructure, ASM

  • Oracle Multitenant

  • Backup and Recovery

  • Migrations

  • Oracle Dataguard/Standby

  • Oracle Golden Gate

  • Hands-on experience in installation, configuration, operation and administration for Databases On-Prem/Oracle Cloud.

  • Knowledge on implementing and maintaining related Oracle products: Oracle Database, Real Application Clusters (RAC) and Oracle Grid Infrastructure, Enterprise Manager OEM.

  • Advanced OS Administration skills with Unix / Linux will add a plus.

  • Good knowledge of Linux Operating System, with preference over Oracle Enterprise Linux.

  • Will add a plus to have knowledge and experience on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).

Responsibilities

As an Advisory Systems Engineer, you are expected to be an expert member of the problem-solving/avoidance team and be highly skilled in solving extremely complex (often previously unknown), critical customer issues. Performing the assigned duties with a high level of autonomy and reporting to management on customer status and technical matters on a regular basis, you will be expected to work with very limited guidance from management. Further, the Advisory Systems Engineer is sought by customers and Oracle employees to provide expert technical advice.
