*Position description: *
The Seattle Aquarium, a leading marine conservation organization, is looking for a lead security officer to join the facilities operations team. The overall duty of a lead security officer is to protect the Aquarium property, employees, and guests. Lead security officers monitor Aquarium property, oversee and support security staff, provide guest services, and document incidents during their shift. While on duty, promote Seattle Aquarium safety and security policies. Works as part of the security team, escalating security concerns to the Security Manager.
Key functions:
- Uphold Seattle Aquarium's S.A.L.I.S.H values, to foster an inclusive community for staff, guests, and all who engage with the security team. - Coordinate break schedules and shift rotations; provide direction to other security officers; bring forward personnel issues as appropriate. Act as back-up supervisor when security supervisor is not available.
- Oversee, review and draft records and documentation of reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
- Interact with staff, volunteers, and guests daily with the goal of delivering excellent customer service to all audiences.
- Respond to difficult interactions with guests and members of the public with an eye for de-escalation.
- Respond to medical emergencies by administering basic first aid, or by obtaining assistance from paramedics.
- Run missing child procedures in accordance with Seattle Aquarium policy.
- Assist with deliveries and shipping.
- Provide crowd control support under the direction of the floor lead.
- Consult with the Seattle Police Department in the event of 911 calls.
- Respond promptly to alarms.
- Provide quick, confident responses to all radio calls related to security.
- Frequent patrols of both indoor and outdoor areas of the Aquarium campus, including the Market Square office across the street. Be vigilant towards facilities related problems.
- Interact with members of the unhoused community with compassion and respect while enforcing Aquarium policies.
- Assist in developing and delivering trainings to security staff; train new security staff and ensure proper implementation of Aquarium security policies.
- Work with supervisor to attempt to find coverage when there are call outs or other last-minute schedule adjustments.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
