UW MEDICAL CENTER – NORTHWEST - SURGICAL SERVICES has an outstanding opportunity for a FULL-TIME FISCAL SPECIALIST 2 (100% FTE, Day Shifts) . This position supports UW Medical Center - Northwest Surgical Services unit managers in the development and implementation of fiscal record keeping systems and provides frontline support for the processing of payroll using Workday and Kronos.

Strong candidates will have prior experience with labor union contracts and work in a payroll-related role, including working knowledge of key payroll concepts. Proficiency in a variety of software applications, including Microsoft Office, Kronos and Workday, with the ability to develop and analyze spreadsheets and write business communications is preferred.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Support the department with timekeeping, absence and payroll processing issues and inquiries to ensure practices are compliant and in alignment to contracts and organizational policies and processes • Implement staffing schedules into Kronos and provide day to day timekeeping maintenance for leadership and employees within Surgical Services • Provide extensive insight and direction related to timekeeping within the Kronos system that includes: reviewing and monitoring time input, absence reviewing and correction, and historical corrections • Independently work with department timekeepers, supervisors, and managers to validate reported hours versus hours paid • Reconcile 40 hour/80 hour, and/or 160/240 hour FTE salary to ensure compliance to work rules • Support unit leadership to analyze and identify opportunities to support productivity management, budget planning or other data related to staffing and scheduling • Serve as subject matter expert to the department for timekeeping and payroll functions • Maintain and modify fiscal record keeping systems, databases, and spreadsheets; review fiscal records; identify trends; assist in formulating corrective action • Contribute to an outstanding customer-service environment including strong collaboration with other team members, surgical services leadership, Human Resources, and payroll • Use service area and organizational communication systems to facilitate coordination of staffing functions, maintain current information, integrate new practices into daily work, and monitors/promotes fiscal compliance within the department. • Support departmental purchasing needs and facilitate payment for goods and services

REQUIREMENTS: • Two years of experience at a level equivalent to Fiscal Specialist I • 15 quarter hours or 10 semester hours of college level accounting or equivalent education/experience
