SUMMARY:Responsible for overseeing and managing the release management lifecycle which includes planning, tracking and coordination, release readiness, production deployment and product validation releases across the organization for various applications. Crowley is seeking a Manager, Release in direct support of the United States Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) / DoD migration system from the Automated Air Load Planning System to the Integrated Computerized Deployment System (ICODES) for planning and managing cargo placement within marshalling yards and surface conveyances. The joint decision-support system developed to assist users with the staging and load-planning requirements for multiple military and commercial modes of transportation. The system incorporates intelligent tools for staging, conveyance load planning, and multi-modal planning. The system is designed and implemented in compliance with the principles of a service-oriented architecture to operate within a collaborative environment. The system enables users to plan and track cargo storage for air, ocean, rail, and truck in a single system that affords the capability of one-time entry of the data. It enables the joint community to easily create, exchange and interpret cargo movement plans through a single software application. Other features assist users by providing high quality alternative solutions to complex load planning problems. The system integrates multiple knowledge-based expert systems, data storage, and a graphical user interface within a distributed and collaborative operational environment providing global services to the operating forces. The successful candidate is Responsible for developing, implementing, improving and maintaining Crowley's Information Security solutions to include the Data Classification and Data Loss Prevention (DLP) program. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Plans and coordinates scheduled software releases in support of organizational strategy and goals. Collaborates and manages various teams involved in the software development lifecycle to ensure the quality and timeliness of releases. Monitors the progress of releases and effectively identifies areas of improvement and bugs in the software through testing. Develops reports and metrics and communicates findings to leadership. Manages development and quality assurance teams to ensure the quality of releases throughout the development process. Leads meetings to communicate expectations, goals, updates and relevant information to development and quality assurance teams. Acts as a liaison to non-technical and technical teams. Maintains a release schedule and repository to manage key release information. Documents release procedures, dependencies, changes and notifications. May recruit, hire, train staff, evaluate employee performance, and recommend or initiate promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action. Manage the release of new or modified software for production. Coordinate with product development and quality to identify risks and resolve issues that affect the release scope, schedule, and quality. Partners with the delivery and project teams to plan, coordinate, and communicate application releases for timely and smooth acceptance of deliverables into the production environment. Working with business leaders ensures all deployments are planned, tested, potential roadblocks identified, and signed off on before going into production. Ensure the release is planned, according to the requirements and budget. Collaborate with relevant development teams responsible for building the automation tools used to develop and deploy the software. Conduct release readiness reviews, milestone reviews, and business go/no-go reviews. Measure and monitor progress to ensure application releases are delivered on time. Make improvements in the methodologies used for configuration management and development of software that helps to find ways to use in configuration management. EDUCATION:Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business or a related technical field; or a combination of post high school and equal experience may be substituted for education. Project Management certification preferred. Relevant commercial certifications are desired. EXPERIENCE:5 years of experience working on projects, preferably in an agile and/or development environment with continuous integration and deployment. Experience in working with DevOps and Agile methodologies. TECHNICAL PROFICIENCY:Proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Microsoft Project. Advanced proficiency with electronic project management systems and tools. COMPETENCIES:Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, including conveying technical information to technical and non-technical users. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal/external business partners. Ability to act as technical project lead for projects that may vary in nature and scope. Ability to identify and/or document existing and new trends, as well as evaluate and predict their impact on the organization. Ability to train and direct the work of others. Ability to interface software and business applications with other systems. Ability to evaluate process effectiveness and develop changes or alternatives. Ability to function effectively with, or as part of, a team. Ability to effectively manage projects that may vary in nature and scope Ability to provide subject matter expertise, counsel, and effectively influence others at various levels within the organization. Knowledge of and ability to conduct need, trend, feasibility, and performance assessments. Knowledge of and ability to apply the concepts, principles and practices of project designing, scheduling, estimating, planning, and inspecting. Knowledge of and ability to apply the concepts, principles and practices of change management. Knowledge of and ability to apply the concepts, principles and practices of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). OTHER:The minimum of a Secret level DoD Security Clearance is required. JOB SCOPE: Position impacts multiple business units/segments. WORKING CONDITIONS:Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like.
