SUMMARY:Responsible for directing, guiding and executing large to complex technology projects through all phases of the systems development life cycle (SDLC). Crowley is seeking an Architect, Business Solutions in direct support of the United States Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) / DoD migration system from the Automated Air Load Planning System to the Integrated Computerized Deployment System (ICODES) for planning and managing cargo placement within marshalling yards and surface conveyances. The joint decision-support system developed to assist users with the staging and load-planning requirements for multiple military and commercial modes of transportation. The system incorporates intelligent tools for staging, conveyance load planning, and multi-modal planning. The system is designed and implemented in compliance with the principles of a service-oriented architecture to operate within a collaborative environment. The system enables users to plan and track cargo storage for air, ocean, rail, and truck in a single system that affords the capability of one-time entry of the data. It enables the joint community to easily create, exchange and interpret cargo movement plans through a single software application. Other features assist users by providing high quality alternative solutions to complex load planning problems. The system integrates multiple knowledge-based expert systems, data storage, and a graphical user interface within a distributed and collaborative operational environment providing global services to the operating forces. The successful candidate is Responsible for developing, implementing, improving and maintaining Crowley's Information Security solutions to include the Data Classification and Data Loss Prevention (DLP) program. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Provides leadership in a company's Development, Security, and Operations (DevSecOps) areas of incident response, vulnerability scanning and management, problem management, certificate management, penetration testing, password policy management, data analysis of network security, remediation patching coordination, and compliance efforts. Chooses and implements the appropriate automated application security testing tools, making users aware of how to best use application security features. Collaborates with team members to develop an automated security framework for strong deployment tools and processes, leveraging various scripting languages and open-source solutions. Recommends automation improvements to replace manual tasks for network infrastructure provisions and security operational processes. Gathers requirements, designs and implements solutions, manages technical operations, and triages and fixes network or security operational issues. Configures end-user and administration access that adheres to access control guidelines. Performs network or security analysis and troubleshooting; diagnoses root cause analysis, using monitoring tools and system analytics; and applies system patches to DevOps tooling. Provides technical support and guidance to users and other DevOps Engineers, answers technical questions, and resolves issues within network and security domains. Updates security procedures and creates and maintains operations runbooks to report procedures and operations, so team members won't re-encounter known issues. Sets up, conducts risk assessment, monitors, and maintains proxy servers, systems, and firewalls. Performs application penetration testing and manual security code reviews. Coordinates change requests with relevant teams and end users and provides status and schedule updates to them. Researches and maintains up-to-date knowledge of current technology trends and best practices for cloud site reliability engineering. Develop models and plans to drive forward the strategy, taking advantage of opportunities to improve business performance. Takes responsibility for investigative work to determine requirements and specify effective business processes, through improvements in information systems, data management, practices, procedures, organization and equipment. Responsible for developing broad cross domain knowledge of both the business and technology domain including a full architectural understanding of the technology portfolio of the company. Guides and uses appropriate tools, including use cases, process models, non-functional requirements, user interface wireframes, UML activity diagrams, state diagrams, to contribute to the development of systems architectures in specific business or functional areas. Applies change management and release management concepts towards execution. Provides advice on functional aspects of system development and integration (including requests for changes, deviations from specifications, etc.) and ensures that relevant technical strategies, policies, standards and practices are applied correctly. Develops and manages contracts with suppliers to meet key performance indicators and agreed targets. Develops, reviews and constructively criticizes ideas, possibly leading a small research team, making necessary observations and tests and carrying them through to a full practical demonstration, wherever viable and feasible. Presents research and recommendations to governance team for review. Monitors the market to gain knowledge and understanding of currently emerging technologies. Identifies new and emerging hardware and software technologies and products based on own area of expertise, assesses their relevance and potential value to the organization, contributes to briefings of staff and management. EDUCATION:Bachelor’s degree in business or information systems or equivalent experience. Relevant commercial certifications are desired. EXPERIENCE:5 - 7 years of business analysis experience in addition to strong analytical skills, familiarity with relational database concepts, client-server, mainframe and/or web concepts. TECHNICAL PROFICIENCY:Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel. Demonstrated experience with packaged software applications containing complex business functionality, use cases, process models, non-functional requirements, user interface wireframes, UML activity diagrams and state diagrams. COMPETENCIES:Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, including conveying technical information to technical and non-technical users. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, both internal and external of the organization. Ability to document existing and new processes. Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously. Ability to utilize problem solving skills. Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions. Ability to effectively manage, deliver and coordinate projects across multiple organizations that may vary in nature and scope while applying project management methodology. Knowledge of and ability to apply the concepts, principles and practices of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Knowledge of standard programming languages, concepts, practices, and procedures within the technology field. Knowledge of and the ability to understand integration needs and configure third party applications. Knowledge of and the ability to utilize tools, concepts, principles, and practices of data collection, analysis and testing. OTHER: The minimum of a Secret level DoD Security Clearance is required. JOB SCOPE: Position impacts multiple business units/segments. WORKING CONDITIONS:Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like.
