We are seeking a dedicated Electrical Design Engineer to join our team. Our chemical manufacturing company, known for producing rubber additives, chlorine tablets, and oil additives, is experiencing significant growth and customer demand. We need a skilled engineer to manage various design and process management projects, provide support to other engineers, and handle customer inquiries and demands. This role offers substantial growth potential and a high level of autonomy in design and process management.
Responsibilities
Manage customer questions and demands related to scheduling, costs, and project milestones.
Provide support to other engineers and product lines.
Visit onsite substations to consult on electrical design and troubleshooting, as well as process improvements.
Collaborate closely with controls engineers and other electrical engineers on projects.
Utilize Microstation for design work, with training available for those familiar with AutoCAD or similar software.
Maintain composure and effectively prioritize competing deadlines and priorities.
Essential Skills
3-5 years of experience in electrical engineering, power distribution, and process engineering.
Experience in electrical design and project management.
Ability to work on packaging line design projects.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage customer-facing roles.
Knowledge of power distribution and control panel design, including load calculations and adherence to UL508 and NEC guidelines.
Experience with medium voltage power distribution and switch gear design.
Familiarity with hazardous area electrical design.
Proficiency in developing electrical installation packages for bidding.
Understanding of control system architectures and industrial networking (ModBus RTU, ModBus TCP).
Familiarity with PLC systems, HMI, and distributed control systems (DeltaV is a plus).
Knowledge of instrumentation design and principles of operation (4-20 mA signals, flow, level, pressure, temperature).
Experience with process control design and packaging line designs.
Familiarity with motor control centers design and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Associate's degree with relevant industry experience.
Experience in chemical manufacturing, oil and gas, food and beverage, or power plants.
Work Environment
The role primarily operates out of the corporate office space but also involves spending time in the plant and at various substations on campus. The facility is undergoing upgrades, and the candidate will work closely with a team of controls engineers and other electrical engineers. The environment requires strong collaboration and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $65.00/hr.
