Join the team as our Central Services Coordinator; in this key role you will provide day-to-day oversight and operation of Info. Central, our staff and system-wide programs. Responsibilities include hiring, coaching, and evaluating staff as well as managing system-wide services. About the Position

In this role you will...

  • Represent Sarasota County to Library users, implementing our standards of service to ensure the prompt and efficient resolution of each inquiry by internal and external customers, delivered with the utmost courtesy and respect.

  • Provide leadership and create a work environment that encourages participation and problem solving.

  • Keep abreast of developments, trends, and innovations in libraries.

  • Day-to-day oversight and supervision of the Info Central staff, including annual performance appraisals and 6 month reviews (for probationary employees).

  • Offer assistance at service desks and in other sections.

  • Exemplary working knowledge of the databases and electronic resources offered by the library system, determining and implementing research strategies when necessary.

  • Manage system programs including: Ask A Librarian, Books by Mail, Ask Us!, Interlibrary Loan and others as directed.

  • Manage Unique Management collection program for Sarasota County Library System, maintaining system policies while seeking solutions for special circumstances.

  • Perform Teleforms follow up.

  • Record phone messages and ensure accurate timetables for phone menus.

  • As a rep to the County Contact Center, edit and create FAQs to the Knowledge Base as needed.

  • Gather usage statistics and complete reports as requested.

  • Manage proactive assessments of fraud awareness, prevention, detection and risk mitigation activities in areas of responsibility; oversee financial, compliance, operational and performance audits; review audit findings and ensure appropriate controls are established and implemented.

About the Schedule

Work Hours:

  • Full-Time, 40 hours / week.

  • Monday - Saturday, 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.

  • Must be available to work during operating hours for the library - including some nights and weekends.

  • This location is not currently open on Sundays, however this is subject to change.

  • Work schedules may vary due to split shifts, rotations, on-call, emergencies, etc .

About You

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Library and Information Services.

  • -OR- Bachelor’s degree and enrolled in a MLS/MLIS program with the ability to obtain a MLS/MLIS within twelve (12) months of hire.

  • Two (2) years of related experience.

  • One (1) year of supervisory experience.

  • Valid Florida Driver's License by date of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual in Spanish.

  • Two (2) or more years of supervisory experience.

  • Two (2) or more years of library experience.

Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.

About Everything Else

Starting Pay Range: $61,152.00
