North Country Healthy Heart Network Outreach Coordinator in Saranac Lake, New York
Overview The North Country Healthy Heart Network, Inc., (The Heart Network) is a small, independently operated, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with headquarters in Essex County (Saranac Lake), NY. Serving a seven-county region in the northeastern corner of upstate New York, The Heart Networks mission is to design, develop, and implement strategies to decrease the incidence of cardiac disease, stroke, and related chronic illness in northeastern New York State. A key strategy has been serving as lead entity for the Get Healthy North Country Community Integrated Health Network.
Get Healthy North Country is now seeking applicants for its new Network Outreach and Engagement Coordinator position. This is a community-facing, public position requiring boots-on-the-ground, handshaking, face-to-face interactions with people. The networks goal with this position is to increase public awareness of, and participation in, the lifestyle-change programs available through the Get Healthy North Country Network. Specifically, it is seeking to engage individuals that often experience barriers to participating in programs like these and the organizations that support them.
Responsibilities Forge partnerships with community sites that are willing to host programs and work with them to schedule workshops Raise awareness of programs by meeting potential participants where they gather Hold formal information sessions Table at events Raise awareness of programs through marketing and strategic advertising Work with organizations like the Dept of Health, Office for Aging and social services to gain support for promoting programs Recruit peer leaders to facilitate workshops Be the network referral point of contact; manage the wait list; and support enrollment of referred participants
Qualifications High school diploma; Associates or Bachelors degree preferred Three years of experience in a similar position Background in marketing, community relations, public health, health planning, nutrition, social welfare, or similar fields Commitment to public health and chronic disease prevention Experience working in communities in northeastern New York State Ability to motivate, inspire others, and convey knowledge and enthusiasm to partners Ability to work with internal and external partners at multiple levels within organizations and across communities Organized and detail-oriented Access to transportation and ability to travel in-region up to 2-3 days/week Knowledge of geography, demographics, and unique needs of region Excellent interpersonal and networking abilities Comfortable using technology The Heart Network offers a competitive salary and benefits package.
