Description
Our client is seeking an organized, detail-oriented, and motivated individual for a Law Clerk opening at their firm. This entry-level position is an excellent opportunity for those seeking to start their legal career.
Responsibilities:
Conduct legal research and assist in the preparation of legal documents under the supervision of attorneys.
Maintain and organize legal files, ensure they are updated, and are easily accessible for attorneys.
Assist lawyers in drafting documents, briefs, motions, and similar legal documents.
Prepare court filings, and sometimes perform court runs to file documents and make appeals.
Monitor changes in legislation and advise the staff about any updates.
Coordinate with clients, witnesses, and outside legal counsel.
Assist with trial preparation including witness lists, exhibits, and trial binders.
Perform administrative tasks as needed such as answering phone calls, scheduling meetings, and maintaining an efficient office environment.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Recent graduates or current law school students encouraged to apply!
Some experience in a law firm or similar setting would be advantageous - Bonus point if in family law!
Strong understanding of legal terminology and a keen interest to learn about different aspects of the law.
Excellent research and report-writing skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and legal research software.
Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and act in a professional manner at all times.
