What you will do:
Responsible for assisting providers and nurses with patient care and provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from clinic services. Responsible for performing a variety of clinical duties including but not limited to: monitoring patient flow, obtaining and documenting patient vitals, document current medications, chief complaint, performing technical laboratory functions including phlebotomy/EKG/stress testing, monitor/track/charge medical equipment, scheduling procedures and tests. Responsible for performing a variety of office duties including but not limited to: greeting patients, vendors, and other visitors and notifying appropriate staff of their arrival, operating switchboard or telephone console to route incoming calls and place outgoing calls, obtaining current and accurate insurance information each visit, verifying coverage through insurance company, obtaining pre-certifications or prior authorizations as needed, maintaining daily accurate records for timely billing of accounts, notifying patients of account status and payments due using collection techniques to assist in keeping accounts receivable current. Assigned to a specific practice/urgent care but will need to assist in covering other practice sites.
Receives authorization for services, checking for special instructions. Pleasantly greets patients confirming their identification and introduces self.
Services may be provided in the clinic or at the worksite.
Prepares room, equipment, and materials as needed for patients. Prepares patient and explains procedures for treatment, phlebotomy and/or EKG.
Maintains necessary certifications for clinic skills and willing to learn new skills as needed/requested, such as vision and hearing testing, drug screen collection, breath alcohol testing. Able to administer intradermal and intramuscular injections after passing competencies.
Answers telephone using proper telephone etiquette and relays messages in a timely manner. Greets and directs patients and clients and answers questions in a courteous and professional manner.
Knowledge of the needs of patients according to their age group and the ability to modify care according to patient’s age. Will most frequently care for adults and geriatric patients; and on occasion, adolescents and children.
May perform Corporate Health duties such as:
Assist with and performs various industrial medical procedures including, but not limited to, the following: medical histories, health risk appraisals, vital signs, vision tests, hearing tests, dipstick tests, injections, urine drug screen collections, breath alcohol tests. Service may be provided in the clinic or at the worksite.
May conduct or assist with education programs for corporate clients or medical center staff (i.e. on-site health fairs, blood draws, drug screen collection)
Monitors employee health services provided for Firelands Regional Medical Center employees (i.e. TB skin tests, needle stick follow-up, Hepatitis B vaccinations)
Ensures adequate supply levels are maintained, checks inventory and prepares requisitions to replenish regular stock levels, submits special orders to the Corporate Heath Center
Maintains required certifications and continuing education needed to provide occupational health screenings/tests.
May perform Medical Scribe duties as needed via computerized documentation of plan of care in the patient record as dictated by physician while examining the patient.
Other tasks:
Transports patient if necessary.
Schedules testing, as necessary. Performs office procedures accurately in absence of clerical personnel. Performs all clerical functions when not performing technical procedures.
Maintains stock supplies for assigned room or work area.
Ability to work flexible shifts in clinic and off-site at companies.
Ability to assist with clerical functions and special projects as requested by the coordinator/manager.
What you will need:
Highschoolgraduate or equivalent.MedicalAssistantcertificationpreferred.
Experience in a medical office or urgent care setting preferred.
Must have the ability to perform as a Medical Scribe from time-to-time. Current CPR certification.
Able to prepare and present reports to FRMC management as requested.
Skill in point of care testing, vital signs, EKG, and other clinical aspects of the office.
Must possess a valid State of Ohio motor vehicle operator's license and insurable under Firelands auto policy. Employee must provide proof of personal automobile liability insurance coverage upon request.
Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner and maintain an accident free work place, including ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of emergency codes.
Successful completion of a 90-day probationary period.
