BlackRock Vice President, Multi Asset Portfolio Manager in San Francisco, California

About this role

This role will be a key member of the Custom Model Solutions (CMS) team within BlackRock’s Multi-Asset Strategies & Solutions (MASS) organization. MASS is the investment group at the heart of BlackRock's portfolio construction, asset allocation, and active management ecosystem, drawing on BlackRock’s full capability set to deliver precise investment outcomes and cutting-edge alpha insights. CMS is a white labeled, open architecture, custom models platform that enables wealth management and advisory firms to partner with BlackRock in constructing a differentiated suite of model portfolios that marry client specific customizations with BlackRock’s best thinking.

The widespread adoption of Model Portfolios is one of the most significant evolutions in the Wealth Management industry over the last decade. As the industry drives towards greater scale, cost efficiency, personalization and goals-based financial planning, the Custom Model Solutions business is uniquely positioned to support advisors and accelerate the adoption of model portfolios. CMS has raised over $50B in client assets in the 5 years since its inception and is one of BlackRock’s the fastest growing businesses in the wealth channel.

As a Portfolio Manager, you will be encouraged to :

Support clients and sales partners

  • In close partnership with internal sales partners, deliver CMS as a Platform as a Service, the conduit to BlackRock’s thinking.

  • Leverage resources across the firm to both meet and preempt client investment and business needs.

  • Lead new and existing client relationships by forging deep partnerships with their C-Suite executives via in-person and virtual meetings.

  • Integrate clients into the BlackRock technology stack to deliver customization at scale.

  • Build strong relationships with product, technology and distribution partners to deliver commercial results aligned with business objectives.

Build and manage model portfolios:

  • Design custom model portfolios for wealth management clients that marry client specific customization requests with BlackRock’s investment view.

  • Optimize portfolios to deliver the same investment experience clients expect from BlackRock’s industry leading flagship models franchise.

  • Master BlackRock’s Aladdin based Portfolio Management toolkit and infrastructure to deliver mass customization at scale.

  • Work closely with investment teams across the firm to synthesize and deliver their systematic investment and market insights.

Manage projects to drive growth and scale the business:

  • Drive and support critical initiatives to scale the CMS business further, including but not limited to market leaders / relationship managers, portfolio managers, product strategists, operations specialists and technologist.

  • Partner with internal stakeholders to improve the CMS operating model, leveraging tech enabled automation to support the business’s growth and risk management objectives.

  • Represent the investment strategy team in projects with sales, marketing, communications, product strategy and other partners.

  • Solicit client feedback on industry demand and build innovative investment solutions that anticipate industry trends.

Qualifications/Skills

  • BA/BS required. Advanced Degree (CFA, CAIA, CFP, FRM, MBA) or progress towards, is strongly preferred

  • A minimum of 6 years investment or asset management experience

  • Client facing portfolio management experience is preferred

  • Combination of technical investment and interpersonal client facing skills

  • Fluid understanding of financial markets, portfolio construction and analysis

  • Entrepreneurial with a sense of ownership and keen sense to build a business

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and process

  • Collegial attitude and eagerness to partner with numerous teams across BlackRock

For San Francisco, CA Only the salary range for this position is USD$137,500.00 - USD$194,000.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
