Position Overview:

The inpatient pharmacy technician assists the pharmacists in the dispensing, distribution, record keeping, and quality assurance functions of the Pharmacy. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, creation and maintenance of drug profiles, preparation of medications and IV solutions, billing, documentation, and various quality assurance activities.

EDUCATION

Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.

HS Diploma or equivalent education/experience

Other: Completion of a pharmacy technician training program or equivalent or equivalent education/experience

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE

PHARMT-Pharmacy Technician

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

Ability to communicate effectively in English

Ability to demonstrate proper telephone and interpersonal etiquette

Ability to handle the stressful situations of a hospital environment

Ability to work effectively with computers

Ability to work effectively with other members of the healthcare team

Ability to accept and contribute to positive change

Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple responsibilities

Ability to perform aseptic manipulations in a sterile environment

Ability to exhibit established safety procedures for handling bio-hazardous materials in a biological safety cabinet while maintaining a sterile environment using aseptic technique

Ability to perform duties quickly and accurately

Ability to report to work reliably and punctually

Ability to respond to direction

Ability to work towards achieving the mission of the hospital and the department

Knowledge of unit dose and IV delivery systems

Knowledge of drug trade and generic names and dosage forms

Knowledge of medical terminology

Knowledge of advanced pharmaceutical calculations

Pay Range is $35.73 to $46.73 / hour

The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Sutter Health. Eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package.
