Job Description

Project Management:

Serve as Planning Yard (PY) homeport waterfront representative to oversee/manage projects and liaison between Ingalls and PY customers for LCS, CG, LPD, and LHD/A ship classes. Provide technical support and field information requests on PY engineering/design products, material procurement & kitting efforts, Availability planning, ILS products, etc. Responsible for customer interfaces including NAVSEA, Regional Maintenance Centers, ship officers/crew, Port Engineers, and other government, contractors, and homeport shipyard representatives. Focus is on high customer satisfaction by delivering timely, quality compliant products and anticipating future customer needs. As tasked, assist PY Homeport Manager in business development identification and capture.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in a relevant technical or business discipline or 10+ years of shipbuilding or Navy/Government experience. Proficient in Microsoft Office, online databases, web portals and other computer based engineering programs. Experience with Navy ship modernization/repair processes and the ability to review and interpret technical drawings and publications. Must be able to manage multiple ships, availabilities, technical and material issues in a constantly changing environment including the ability to perform tasks in a physically demanding shipboard environment (i.e. climb stairs & vertical ladders and access tight spaces).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ship familiarization of LCS, CG, LPD and/or LHD/A ship classes.

  • Project Management experience.

  • Understanding and/or exposure to post-delivery processes, SCM/Material management, or Change Management.

  • Strong analytical, problem solving, communication, and customer service skills.
