Scripps Health Medical Assistant - Rheumatology - Torrey Pines in San Diego, California
This is a benefited, full time position generally working Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm. Located in La Jolla at Scripps Clinic Torrey Pines. You will be required to float to other specialties at the same location as needed.

Your job duties: * Rooming patients, checking vitals, assisting with procedures, specifically injections * Clinic prep assisting with Provider specific protocols * Maintains a clean, organized, and safe environment * Organizes and performs patient care services that support the physician’s practice * Relaying instructions from the physician to the patient or authorized person * Collecting patient data in person and by phone * Documenting patient concerns, messages and care provided in the electronic medical record for the physician's review * Administering medications specifically directed by the physician * Scheduling of appointments and procedures * Complete and accurate message taking * Routing messages to the appropriate area for direction * Order and referral entry, acquisition of pre-certifications * Setting up of cases in EPIC plus basic registration and updating of demographics * Float to other specialties as needed
Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:
- Completion of a formal Medical Assistant Program, or Medical Assistance Certification, or a minimum of two years of experience as a military corpsman
Required Certification/Registration:
- BLS required in clinical setting for the Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association (AHA)
Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:
- One year of experience as a MA in an outpatient setting preferred
- Experience with injections & EKGs
