FIRST STEP HOUSE Program Manager in SALT LAKE CITY, Utah

We are hiring a full-time Program Manager for our Orientation unit in Salt Lake City, Utah!!

The Program Manager provides a full spectrum of clinical services within the scope of his/her or their licensure. These services range from mental-health therapy to case management, serving a diverse population. The Program Manager is responsible for providing the highest possible care to every client and team member served. This role can be complex, as this person must navigate between varying interests. For example, while client advocacy and rapport must be priorities, consideration must be given to the interests of funders, legal entities, and other stake holders. This role requires strong collaborative skills, as therapists work with various teams, including treatment teams and legal entities. The Program Manager assists the Director of SUD Treatment Services in other administrative tasks and works in concert with the priorities of the Senior Management Team, the Executive Director, and the Board of Directors. Strong interpersonal boundaries and a clear understanding of ethical responsibilities are a necessity for this position. The Program Manager supports the clinical team by performing oversight, administrative, and corrective responsibilities. The overall goals of this position are to (a) provide high-quality care for clients and team members, (b) provide a high level of customer service for funders, clients, and other stake holders, (c) perform management responsibilities to support the clinical and administrative teams, and (d) to understand the individual grants which fund the program and ensure that the program is operating according to the agreed-upon standards of the grant awards.

  • Pay is $75,000 - $87,000

Education and Experience

  • A Master's degree and an active license in the State of Utah as a clinical mental health counselor, social worker, or marriage and family therapist Or an active license in the State of Utah as a Substance Use Disorder Counselor is required.
  • Experience in both substance abuse and mental health treatment field is preferred.

Licenses/Certifications/Registrations

  • Clinical licensure required

Job Duties assigned, but not limited to:

  • Effective, people-centered management of reporting staff
  • Management of the "flow" of clients through the two-week orientation process.
  • Engagement of clients in highly-motivational interventions and interactions.
  • Effective use of Mental Status and Substance Use Evaluation in determining client program placement.
  • Maintains knowledge of program rules, client rules, client rights, and relevant legal and ethical codes.
  • Uses the Electronic Health Record to enter clinical notes, case-management notes, treatment plans, client information updates, billing information and other relevant client information.
  • Completes timely funding requests and treatment updates based upon the treatment plan.
  • Uses the American Society of Addiction Medicine's Patient Placement Criteria (ASAM Criteria 4) in recommending client service levels and in formulating treatment plans.
  • Utilizes the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual 5 (DSM 5 TR) in rendering a diagnosis.
  • Facilitates addiction-related psychotherapy groups and life-skills classes.
  • At a minimum, is competent in providing substance-abuse treatment, group therapy, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
  • Performs regular individual-therapy sessions for clients with substance-use disorders and comorbid mental health issues.
  • Maintains knowledge of legal entities/ community partners.
  • Maintains knowledge of program rules, client rules, client rights, and relevant legal and ethical codes.
  • Oversees coordination of various case-management responsibilities between clinical and case management staff.
