ASM Global Lead Groundskeeper (Salt Palace Convention Center) (Full Time) in Salt Lake City, Utah

ASM Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for a Lead Groundskeeper for ASM Global/Salt Palace Convention. Under the guidance of the Maintenance Manager, the Lead Groundskeeper supervises groundskeeping personnel in addition to overseeing routine grounds installation and maintenance duties including venue exterior cleanliness, lawn and planting care, seasonal maintenance, snow and ice removal, and special projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervises groundskeeping personnel and clearly communicates job duties to Groundskeepers

  • Complete care of all landscaping, trees, shrubbery, lawns, floral, and green belt areas of the property.

  • Cleans venue exterior hard surfaces including loading dock areas. Trash and debris removal, and snow and ice removal.

  • Maintains and routinely tests irrigation systems and timing mechanisms to ensure quality.

  • Venue cleaning of exterior hard walls and doors.

  • Maintains cleanliness and function ability of all exterior furnishings, fixtures, and equipment.

  • Ensures exterior flags are in good condition and maintains their posting.

  • Collaborates with and ensures Groundskeepers are provided with with proper and sufficient tools, supplies, and equipment to perform assigned tasks.

  • Adheres to OSHA, NFPA and other applicable safety codes to maintain a safe working environment.

  • Works well in a team environment to ensure the success of the department and venue.

  • Perform other duties or special projects as needed.

    Experience & Knowledge

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • Three years’ experience in a grounds maintenance position preferred.

  • Previous supervisory experience preferred

  • Landscaping and horticulture experience preferred.

  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of the methods and skill in the use of equipment, materials, and tools appropriate for groundskeeping and heavy equipment operation (i.e., hand tools, mowers, trimmers, utility vehicles, forklifts, sweepers, plows, front-end loaders, power washers, etc.)

  • Good customer service skills, including telephone etiquette, email, and text communications.

  • Dependable and team-oriented

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Ability to interact with people on all levels such as management, co-workers, clients, exhibitors, and attendees.

    Certifications/Licenses/Registrations

  • Must be in possession of and maintain a valid Class C Utah Driver License

  • Must complete annual Forklift Training and any other required training within 60 days of employment.

Job Type: Full-time, 40 hours per week, On-Site

Wage: $22-$26/hour

Schedule: Monday-Friday, Flexible Start/End Times, Occasional Weekend Availability Required

Requires irregular and/or extended hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays, determined by event schedule and/or department needs. Requires radio usage, two-way handheld.
