Job Summary

Tracks and resolves open purchase orders. Runs open order reports and communicates with suppliers via email, phone, or other methods to obtain current order delivery information; modifies due dates in JD Edwards as necessary. Creates and issues purchase orders to suppliers for low-level routine items. Review and resolve invoice discrepancies. Performs analysis and evaluation of purchase requisitions, specifications, price quotes and other purchasing-related documents. Assists with reconciling backorders and investigates shipping discrepancies. Manages order status utilizing independent decision-making skills and persistence; prioritizes workload. Analyzes out-of-stock inventory parts to determine cause and find resolution. Assists in determining proper min max levels for ROPs. Collaborates and communicates effectively with inventory, warehouse, and department staff as needed. Assists Purchasing staff with the UTA P-card program. Manages the release of all blanket purchase orders. Research alternative sources for parts that are difficult to procure. Provides research and other support to Supply Chain projects as assigned by Procurement Manager. Creates and maintains reports to track supplier delivery performance. Identifies repetitive supplier issues or trends and works with buyer and/or manager to resolve. Acts as the back-up Buyer during vacations and other circumstances.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION/TRAINING:

Associate's degree in business management or related field required. Bachelors degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

Two years in purchasing, expediting, materials management, office management, or other relevant technical or analytical discipline. Experience with JD Edwards or other ERP software preferred.

SKILLS:

  • Basic proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to organize and accurately document multiple streams of information
  • Exercise good judgment and discretion
  • Establish priorities / work independently and proceed with objectives with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated skills in influencing supplier relationships to accomplish operational objectives

This job requires regular and predictable attendance.

Pay Range: $21.875 - $25.240
