ARUP Laboratories Electrical Engineer II in Salt Lake City, Utah

Schedule :Monday - Friday (40 hrs/wk)8:00 AM -5:00 PM
Department: Automation Engineering - 501
Primary Purpose :
This position uses design skills to develop basic electrical designs for industrial automation systems. Develops detailed CAD layouts and electrical schematics and must be familiar with panel design and building. Our ideal candidate would have experience in Solidworks and several years designing and building electrical panels.

Essential Functions :
Develop, implement, test, and improve automation electrical and control systems.
Proficient ability to operate CAD software to perform engineering tasks.
Proficient ability to design and interpret data from electrical and mechanical drawings and schematics.
Wire and procure control panel equipment, e.g., safety circuits, I/O, network hardware, circuit breakers, terminal blocks, robot controllers, etc.
Confer with engineers, customers, and others to discuss existing or potential engineering projects and products.
Maintain knowledge of current codes and standards such as UL508A, NFPA 79 & 70.
Develops project specifications with colleagues, often including those from other engineering disciplines.
Conducts or participates in design review of product requirements and design specifications.
Creates and maintains manufacturing documentation that is used to properly manufacture ARUP products.
Provide schedules and estimates for time and resources required for completing assigned tasks.
Works with commercial fabrication vendors to ensure parts procurement occurs within appropriate project timelines and specifications
Monitors progress and meets all defined deadlines.
Communicates all information and changes to team members effectively. Reports on the project status.
Works with technical personnel to adapt new technologies or technological improvements in pre and post-analytical processes.
Quickly gains knowledge of new technologies to ensure successful implementation and to provide education to the team members.
Physical and Other Requirements :
Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.
Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
Mobility: The person in this position needs to occasionally move between work sites and inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
Communicate: Frequently communicate with others.
PPE: Biohazard laboratory environment that requires use of personal protective equipment in accordance with CDC and OSHA regulations and company policies.
ARUP Policies and Procedures: To conduct self in compliance with all ARUP Policies and Procedures.
Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
Fine Motor Control: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.
Qualifications
Education
Required
- Associates Degree or better in Electrical Engineering
Experience
Required
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or closely related field with two (2) years directly related experience. Or an Associate’s degree with four (4) years directly related experience
Three (3) years’ experience in a manufacturing or related setting
Proficiency in SolidWorks or AutoCAD Electrical design software
Ability to use electrical hand tools
Preferred
Mechanical aptitude, informatics skills, and experience in machining
Knowledge of pneumatic systems and diagrams
Electrical troubleshooting skills
