Raymond James Financial, Inc. Principal Engineer - Platform Engineering in Saint Petersburg, Florida
Job Description
This position will follow our hybrid work model, we expect the selected candidate to be in office 2-3 days a week(10-12 days a month ) at the following office location: St. Petersburg, FL.
Job Summary:
This Principal Engineer role has a deep focus on technical expertise within End User Virtual Compute solutions that encompasses the design and development of complex systems and products. The individual will oversee project planning and execution, conduct testing for optimal performance, and continuously improve processes across the global organization. Strong leadership, communication skills, and a proven track record of both solution delivery and complex problem solving are essential qualifications.
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership: Focusing on strategic areas that often involve multiple teams, ensuring cohesive strategies and execution, and aligning product, design, and business goals.
Technical Expertise : Deep understanding of engineering principles and practices, Digital Workplace Platform technologies, configuration management practices, data integrity, and security.
Designing and Developing Systems: Involvement in the design and development of complex systems and products, creating technical specifications, conducting research and development activities, and performing simulations and analyses. Problem solving: Capable in applying critical thinking to solve complex problems across the organization.
Project Planning and Execution : Overseeing the planning and execution of engineering projects to ensure they are completed on time and within budget. Testing and Performance Verification : Conducting testing of architectural design and system performance to ensure optimal performance, capacity, and efficiency.
Staying Updated with Developments : Keeping current with developments in the field, attending workshops and conferences, and continuing education.
Communication and Visibility : Clearly communicates with Senior leaders to present project or problem status. Assists in leading all hands meetings and being visible and inspiring to the team.
Process Improvement: Recommending and incorporating changes to processes across the organization when necessary.
Travel quarterly to other Corporate Office locations.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Skills
In-depth knowledge of Citrix Virtual Applications and Desktops with both on-premise and cloud/hybrid cloud deployments.
In-depth knowledge of Windows 365 and Azure Virtual Desktop cloud solutions. Deep technical expert with Microsoft Windows OS, including Windows Server and Windows Workstation Operating Systems
Proficiency in scripting languages like PowerShell is essential for automating tasks and managing Windows environments
Knowledge of security best practices for Windows-based systems, including CIS benchmarks, is important.
This involves implementing required security measures and monitoring performance to ensure compliance
A minimum of seven (7) years of experience is required with a focus on End User Compute virtualization strategies
Leadership Skills : Ability to lead and inspire a global team, partner with other teams, and align strategies across the organization.
Communication Skills : Strong communication skills to document and communicate technical designs and solutions to senior management and other stakeholders.

Overseeing integration, engineering, and administration of virtual desktop and application solutions including.

Licenses/Certifications
CISSP or able to obtain within 6 months · Citrix Certified Professional – Virtualization
Nice to have - Microsoft Certified: Azure Virtual Desktop Specialty (AZ-140)

Bachelor’s: Computer and Information Science (Required), Bachelor’s: Computer Systems Analysis, Bachelor’s: Information Technology
