At Ford's Advanced EV Development Security Team, we're safeguarding the future of mobility. We seek an experienced Cybersecurity Development Engineer to implement security features for our next-generation electric vehicle platforms.
In this role, you'll translate high-level security architecture into hands-on engineering solutions, tackling challenges across the vehicle ecosystem. By integrating security features directly into the ECUs and other critical systems, you'll be essential in bringing our security designs to life. Your skills will be crucial in developing, implementing, and validating security features across the platform.

What you’ll do...
Translate high-level security requirements and designs into practical, efficient implementations by developing and maintaining software components and libraries.
Partner with each ECU team to effectively develop and integrate security-focused software components into their codebases.
Perform hands-on debugging and troubleshooting of security implementations, using low-level debugging tools to identify and fix issues.
Conduct code reviews with a focus on identifying and addressing potential vulnerabilities in both newly developed and existing code.
Collaborate with Verification & Validation teams to develop and execute security-focused test plans to ensure robust, secure solutions.
Provide technical support and troubleshooting for cybersecurity issues that arise during integration and testing.
Stay current with emerging threats and vulnerabilities in automotive cybersecurity, proposing and implementing innovative solutions to address them.
Contribute to building a strong security culture within the Advanced EV Development organization.
You'll have...
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
5+ years of experience in in embedded systems development and cybersecurity implementation.
Comprehensive knowledge of embedded systems architecture and cybersecurity with proven experience applying this knowledge in automotive contexts.
Proven expertise in embedded C/C++ programming, with a strong focus on secure coding practices.
Strong debugging skills and experience with embedded systems debugging tools.
Solid grasp of automotive cybersecurity technologies and mechanisms in areas such as in-vehicle networking (e.g., LIN, CAN, Ethernet, wireless, UDS, XCP, TLS), hardware trust anchors (e.g. HSM, HSE, TEE, secure elements), secure boot, secure diagnostics, key management, and Over-The-Air (OTA) updates.
Working knowledge of cryptography fundamentals, including symmetric and asymmetric algorithms, hashing, Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), and X.509 digital certificates, with experience applying these in automotive security contexts.
Solid understanding of common security vulnerabilities and attack vectors in embedded systems.
Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and communicate complex technical concepts clearly.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively to overcome security challenges in resource-constrained environments.

Broader automotive development expertise, which may include familiarity with AUTOSAR architecture, real-time operating systems (RTOS), functional safety concepts and their implementation (e.g., ISO 26262), and other automotive-specific development frameworks, standards, and methodologies.
Experience with one or more of: secure boot, firmware signature verification, OTA, key management, and secure diagnostics.
Familiarity with automotive cybersecurity standards and regulations (e.g., ISO/SAE 21434, UNECE WP29 R.155/R.156).
Proficiency in additional programming languages such as Python or Rust
Experience in conventional cybersecurity domains, including cloud infrastructure security, Linux system hardening, and mobile platform (e.g., Android) security principles and best practices.
