ASRC Federal Holding Company Technical Writer in Saint Louis, Missouri

Overview:

ASRC Federal is looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Technical Writer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation to communicate complex technical information to a wide audience. Your work will support various stakeholders, including engineers, developers, and end-users, by transforming complex technical concepts into understandable documents, manuals, user guides, and online help resources.

Responsibilities:

  • Documentation Creation : Develop and maintain high-quality technical documents such as user guides, installation manuals, API documentation, release notes, and system specifications.

  • Content Research : Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs), engineers, product managers, and other technical personnel to gather information and ensure accuracy in your documentation.

  • Audience Adaptation : Tailor writing style and tone for diverse audiences, ranging from technical professionals to non-technical end-users.

  • Review and Editing : Edit and proofread documents for clarity, consistency, and technical accuracy while adhering to company style guides and industry best practices.

  • Content Management : Organize, update, and manage content in a content management system (CMS) or other digital platforms.

  • Process Improvement : Continuously improve documentation processes, tools, and methodologies to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of content creation.

  • Technical Translation : Simplify complex technical jargon into easy-to-understand language without compromising on accuracy.

  • Quality Assurance : Ensure that all documents meet quality standards, are free of errors, and follow standard formatting guidelines.

Requirements:

  • 3 years of relevant experience

  • Education A degree in Technical Communication, English, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field is preferred Writing Skills : Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with the ability to explain technical concepts in simple, user-friendly language.

  • Technical Proficiency : Familiarity with technical concepts in [specific field, e.g., software development, network systems, hardware design], and the ability to quickly learn new technologies and concepts.

  • Tools : Proficiency in documentation tools such as Microsoft Word, Adobe FrameMaker, MadCap Flare, or other authoring tools. Knowledge of Markdown, HTML, and content management systems (CMS) is a plus.

  • Attention to Detail : High attention to detail and ability to spot inconsistencies or gaps in documentation.

  • Collaboration : Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with technical and non-technical teams.

  • Time Management : Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.

  • Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach to identifying documentation gaps or improvement opportunities.

  • Ability to adapt to evolving requirements and stay up-to-date with industry standards.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle large amounts of information efficiently.
