The Boeing Company’s Airport Operations Engineering (AOE) group is seeking an Exp erienced Airport Engineer to join their team in Rzeszow, Poland.

The successful candidate will contribute to our high visibility work statement to assure that Boeing airplanes are compatible with and have access to the airports around the world, strive for airport regulations that are equitable and achievable for Boeing aircrafts. Will ensure that new airplane design requirements result in minimal aircraft/airport constraints, minimize airport limitations/restrictions on our aircraft and provide airplane programs support.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provides expertise in aircraft/airport compatibility issues to include airport operations & planning, and pavement analysis (roughness & strength)

  • Compares airplane configurations with airport operations and infrastructure to identify incompatible airplane or airport features

  • Surveys, analyzes, and documents airport infrastructure and provides recommendations for improvements including developing operational plans

  • Conducts trade studies of product development airplane design characteristics and provides recommendations on configuration changes to improve airport compatibility

  • Participate in airport-related conferences, regulatory and industry meetings to disseminate airplane product trends and effect regulatory and airport infrastructure changes to improve compatibility with Boeing aircraft

  • Applies knowledge of airfield pavement design and evaluation using latest FAA software to perform structural analysis of pavement

  • Experience in conducting onsite airfield roughness testing and evaluation, as well as pavement strength testing

  • Recommends changes to facilities and / or procedures to support removal of operational restrictions

  • Coordinates release of airport or airplane information as requested

  • Applies knowledge of military and commercially available aeronautical data to conduct analyses

  • Mentor and train early career engineers

  • Advise management in process improvement and implementation

  • Oversees quality control, maintaining quality standards in all work produced by checking computations and drawings performed by others

  • Analyzes technical problems and provide new approaches and alternative solutions.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.

  • 10+ years experience in airport infrastructure design and planning, air-side airport operations, and airport compatibility.

  • 10+ years experience in project leadership / management roles including active engagement with all of the following: cross-functional teams, airport authorities, aviation regulatory authorities, and airlines.

  • 10+ years experience in conducting airport aeronautical safety assessment based on ICAO SMS standards.

  • Advance knowledge of airfield signage, lighting, and NAVAIDs.

  • Advance knowledge and application of ICAO and FAA aerodrome design and operations standards.

  • Experience with FAA FAARFIELD and other pavement tools to conduct analysis and report pavement strength (ACN/PCN & ACR/PCR).

  • Proficient skills in AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation, ArcGIS, AVIPLAN, Microsoft Excel.

  • Excellent public speaking skills. Position will require frequent engagement with airport, civil aviation, and airline customers.

  • Effective communication and technical writing skills.

  • Advance knowledge of part 139 airport certification.

  • Experience and knowledge of Airfield Safety procedures, policies, and requirements.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Professional registration.

  • Advance knowledge of Boeing and Competitor airplane models and their basic dimensional and performance characteristics and the application of these models to the worldwide market.

  • Advance knowledge of airport physical characteristics (e.g., airfield design, pavement strength, design standards) and operating procedures (e.g., crash/fire/rescue data, air traffic control).

  • Participation in aerodrome design and planning industry working groups (ICAO, FAA, EASA, IATA, AIAA, ICCAIA, AAAE, ACI).

  • Experience conducing onsite pavement roughness, and strength.

  • Experience in airport airfield operations.

  • Experience in implementing Safety Management System (SMS).

  • Experience with ground support equipment operatio.

  • Familiar with airport emergency operations.

  • Experience in airspace design.
