Who will you be working with? Reporting to the Vice President, Transit Services you will lead a team of highly experienced professionals dedicated to ensuring Wabtec's strategic goals are met.
Where is the position located? The position can be based at either of our offices in Rydalmere, Sydney or Keysborough, Melbourne.
How will you make a difference? The GM Transit, ANZ serves as the senior executive leader responsible for the strategic leadership, direction, operational excellence, governance, and overall performance of Transit business within ANZ.
This includes ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, driving performance of the business, managing internal and external partnerships, ensuring strategic goals are met, overseeing operations, leading different teams, and managing employees to ensure business is run smoothly and growth is achieved.
This role ensures alignment with global strategies while addressing regional opportunities and challenges to drive sustainable growth, operational efficiency, and stakeholder engagement.
What will your typical day look like?
Strategic Leadership and Governance
Develop, implement, and lead the strategic direction of the Transit business in Australia and New Zealand, ensuring alignment with organisational and regional goals.
Serve as a key member of the ANZ executive team, contributing to overall business strategy and decision making.
Provide clear strategic vision and set measurable goals to drive growth and long-term sustainability.
Build the Wabtec Transit brand across key external stakeholders.
Establish and comply with robust governance frameworks to guide decision making and ensure business integrity.
Manage litigation risks by proactively identifying legal vulnerabilities and implementing mitigation strategies.
Drive Sales & Marketing Activities
Drive sales and business development strategies to expand market share and revenue streams for Services and Product Lines across the Transit group.
Build relationships with key stakeholders, including government bodies, partners to support growth initiatives.
Grow After Market (AM) Services through-out Australia and New Zealand, through the development of relationships with key stakeholders.
Monitor market trends to identify opportunities to service expansion or new opportunities.
Partake and support the Original Equipment (OE) activities through-out Australia and New Zealand.
Build on OE success and Installed base to bring added value to the customer regarding local support
Increase the OE Market share through new projects and processes to introduce OE products.
Develop required commercial strategies to support the growth of After Market and Original Equipment (OE) activities across the region.
Define commercial priorities to achieve YoY targeted organic growth.
Develop and implement the regional marketing plan for the Transit business.
Structure and drive complete organization to support commercial endeavours – full Transit portfolio.
Represent Wabtec Transit across industry events and engagements, raise awareness of our Brand of products and Innovations, servicing the Rolling Stock Sector.
Connect with railway & Rail institutional stakeholders across Australia and New Zealand to represent Wabtec's Transit portfolio.
Drive Country Financials
Order Intake, Sales, Contribution Margin (CM) and Cash targets are the four key KRA's for the Transit Business function.
Full P&L Responsibility for the Transit business in ANZ
Develop and manage the Transit business budget, ensuring financial sustainability and growth.
Identify cost saving opportunities while maintaining service quality.
Develop, Lead and Engage
Leadership through Wabtec's core values, People First, Expand the Possible, Embrace Diversity and One Wabtec
Direct reporting functional lines; Customer Care Team, Engineering, Commercial, Supply Chain/Procurement, for the improvement of commercial services across the region
Partner with Indirect reporting functional lines; Operations, Human Resources, Finance, Tax, Legal, Property, Corporate, for the improvement of commercial services across the region
Establish a highly motivated work environment.

Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations, and company policies.
Identify and mitigate risks related to operations, safety, and business continuity.

Strong decision making ability
You must have:
Minimum Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in leadership positions, with at least 5 years in a senior management role.
Proven track record of driving business growth, leading diverse teams and managing cross functional operations.
Confirmed experience in Rail, Infrastructure or similar.
Confirmed experience managing high performance teams and demonstrated ability to develop teams.
Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
