Job Title: Systems Engineer-SCIFJob Description

We are seeking a dedicated Systems Engineer-SCIF to support program management, chief engineering, and design authority in the development of program planning strategies, technical cost estimates, risk management, and logistics management. The role involves preparation of data, status updates, and presentations for internal and external customer reviews. The successful candidate will work closely with program management and the design authority to assess customer requirements, plan technical solutions, and integrate requirements into the project plan.

Responsibilities

  • Support program management, chief engineer, and design authority with development of program planning strategies, technical cost estimates, risk management, and logistics management.

  • Prepare data, status updates, and presentations for internal/external customer reviews.

  • Work with program management and design authority on assessing customer requirements, planning technical solutions, and integrating requirements into the project plan.

  • Prepare estimates to complete, review schedules, and coordinate with integrated product team (IPT) leads and program management office.

  • Understand technical contractual requirements and allocation across the engineering team.

  • Maintain awareness of Subcontract Data Requirements List (SDRL) or Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) items and other applicable contract deliverables.

  • Manage planning and work packages: initiate, create, authorize, review, distribute, and status work packages.

  • Manage technical execution as defined by design authority and communicate problem resolution across the engineering team.

  • Coordinate team logistics and obtain necessary resources to support resource requirements.

  • Coordinate the review, presentation, and release of design documentation to support requirements compliance.

  • Communicate program impediments or issues/delays in completing tasks with the Program Manager, design authority, and functional management.

  • Monitor and report technical status, task accomplishments, and design authority direction.

  • Monitor and coordinate status reporting of project activities against the project plan: technical scope, cost, and schedule.

  • Keep the lead engineer informed of task accomplishments, issues, solutions, and status.

  • Escalate issues which cannot be resolved at the IPT level or working level and work with program leadership to determine and implement a resolution.

  • Provide guidance to the engineering team based on management direction.

  • Gather and maintain status of the technical scope and execution of major divisions or components of the project(s).

  • Integrate Customer, Subcontractor, and Company requirements and efforts relative to the project plan to ensure overall success.

  • Work cross-functionally as a project coordinator to status project requirements.

  • Interface with peer Project Engineers, design authorities, project IPTLs, functional management, and engineering teams/personnel.

  • May contact Customers and Subcontractors/Suppliers as required and in coordination with Supply Chain Management.

  • Implement execution of company engineering processes and provide feedback on engineering process improvements.

Essential Skills

  • Basic project management skills including resource estimates for engineering effort requirements (hours) and timing (schedule).

  • Working knowledge with MS Office products, including MS Project for schedule development and review.

  • Demonstrated leadership and vision in managing tasks and resources for a single project.

  • Basic understanding and experience with engineering fundamentals and best practices.

  • Strong presentation preparation and delivery skills.

  • Strong communication and relationship skills with program leadership, engineering leadership, customers, and engineering team members.

  • Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards.

  • Ability to interact effectively with peers and supervisors.

  • Ability to interact appropriately with the public when necessary.

  • Ability to adhere to workplace rules.

  • Flexibility to handle changing requirements and prioritize in a dynamic environment.

  • U.S. Security Clearance is a MUST.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Knowledge of unmanned aircraft systems and related support systems.

  • Working level knowledge of engineering component and assembly drawings.

  • Experience in an aircraft manufacturing environment involving metallic and composite hardware fabrication, assembly, and test.

  • Experience with engineering change processes, planning updates for drawings and specifications, and driving execution to support operations.

  • Knowledge of compliance elements for government regulations, EVMS, and Export regulations.

  • Bachelor’s degree in an applicable engineering, technical, or science discipline.

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience with Engineering, Systems, Integration, Test, Software, and/or Engineering Project Leadership, preferably within the aerospace or aviation industries.

Work Environment

This role involves working in an office and/or manufacturing environment. You may be required to work extended hours or weekends to complete tasks and meet schedules. The position also involves domestic travel.
