Learn more about us at https://www.hawkinsinc.com/careers/ ABOUT THE JOB The Compliance and Safety Specialist will help maintain compliance with all applicable regulations from Federal, State, and Local agencies. This role supports the significant amount of environmental regulatory filings, and also supports the broader Health, Safety & Environmental Team by supporting team initiatives and compliance in support other areas. Responsibilities Environmental Prepare and submit accurate environmental reports and responses to agency requests. Lead plant level compliance for all applicable environmental regulations and programs to include: Air permitting and emissions inventory. Aboveground storage tank notifications and permitting. EPCRA (Sections 302, 304, 312, 313). FIFRA pesticide registrations (federal and state), production reporting, customer agreements, notices, sub-registrations, and related documentation management. Industrial stormwater inspections and sampling. Industrial wastewater permitting and compliance reporting. Waste Management including profiling, disposal coordination and documentation (RCRA/Non- RCRA). Permit application preparation and submission. Sample collection and analysis. Data compilation and analysis. Compliance report preparation and filing. Coordinate and deliver employee training. Site conformance audits/assessments. Agency inspection support. Applicable employee training. Participate in periodic facility emergency response drills. Assist HSE Team with implementing companywide initiatives, monitor and encourage safe work practices, and conduct periodic safety assessments at plant locations. Compliance and Business Support Promote safety awareness and accident prevention; investigate any accidents, determine root cause, and initiate corrective action. Build a positive working relationship with all levels and across all departments to collaborate and problem solve. Working with leadership, update safety and environmental related policies and procedures; review regulations and compare with company policies to ensure compliance; verify that employees are adhering to the company policies and procedures as written. Perform audits and inspections of our facilities to ensure compliance with all HSE related regulations. Managed assigned areas of compliance reporting. ABOUT YOU Education: Bachelor of Science in Environmental Management, Environmental Science, engineering, a related field or equivalent experience. Experience: 2-3 years of experience working with environmental regulations. Good organizational skills. Personal computer experience: Good working knowledge of Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, MS Publisher, Outlook, Visio. Physically able to walk up and down stairs, ladders; work in extreme heat and cold when needed. Other knowledge or skills: Ability to work well both autonomously and as part of a collaborative group. Preferred Qualifications: OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER Certified GIS, VISIO, and/or CAD competency Physical Requirements: Able to sit, stand, bend, reach, ascend or descend stairs, and walk for extended periods of time in an office or manufacturing setting, including areas where conditions may include odors, varying temperatures, humidity, and moderate levels of noise. Ability to wear PPE such as a respirator and chemical suit for extended periods of time. Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis. TRAVEL Up to 20% travel required.
