Employment: Full Time/School Year (37.5 hours per week). Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday during business hours. The school schedule is to be followed and vacations are taken using paid school breaks. A six-week summer session is included in employment. Evening work may be required as job duties demand.

As a CFY, our agency will provide you with a mentored professional experience and oversight as you complete your Clinical Fellowship, providing you with additional knowledge, feedback and clinical experience. You will be supervised by a NYS Licensed SLP providing you with the required hours for completion of your CF. Our agency does require that you remain employed with our agency for a minimum of one year following the completion of your CF, although we are hopeful you will continue your employment for many years!

Summary/Objective: Speech Therapists work under a NYS Licensed Speech Language Pathologist to prevent, assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders in children and adults.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Masters degree and Certificate of Clinical Competence preferred, or Certificate of Qualification, provisional or permanent identification as a Teacher of Speech and Hearing Handicapped. Experience working with preschool age children or other individuals with development disabilities preferred. Valid New York State drivers license. Proficient computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office programs. Must have demonstrated commitment to performing job duties and tasks at a high level of performance.

Responsibilities include: Imparts agency philosophy of Equal Opportunity, Independence and Realization of Individual Potential to children, families, program staff and community resources. Maintains confidentiality of information relating to individuals and their families in accordance with agency policy. Upholds New York State Education Law/Practice Act as relating to the practice of speech therapy. Screens individuals to determine speech and language strengths and need for further speech and language evaluation. Obtains appropriate permission and approval for evaluations to be conducted. Evaluates individuals on caseload through testing, observations, parental and team input and medical information. Carries out treatment programs, developed after evaluation, which are designed to meet individuals IEP goals or IFSP outcomes. Schedules speech language therapy sessions for individuals, individually in small groups and in the classroom or community. Consults with the teacher, as well as other members of the interdisciplinary team as appropriate, to facilitate delivery of coordinated quality services to individuals. Works with parents as integral members of the interdisciplinary team at school as well as in the home setting. Completes all paperwork in accordance with agency, program and department policies and guidelines. Attends all team, discipline and staff meetings as designated. Maintains treatment area in an orderly manner to ensure safety.
