Job Description

Our client produces wire products for a diverse range of industrial, residential construction, commercial construction, agricultural, and specialty applications. Its products include bright wire; a broad array of fasteners, including packaged, collated and bulk nails; stucco reinforcing products; concrete reinforcing mesh; fencing and other fabricated wire products. They are looking to add to their maintenance team of 30, of which has 10 millwrights.

The millwright will be responsible for work in a heavy industrial environment that includes the maintenance and repair of:

  • Overhead cranes

  • Gas furnaces

  • Pneumatic and hydraulic equipment

  • Gear reducers

  • Conveyors

Hard Skills

  • Red Seal Millwright or equivalent

  • 2+ years experience in a heavy industrial environment

  • Experience doing repairs on overhead cranes, gas furnaces, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment, gear reducers, conveyors

  • Must have own basic tools

Work Environment

They will be reporting to the maintenance manager.

The maintenance charge hand will coordinate and schedule work day-to-day operations – they will mostly be dealing with the charge hand on a daily basis.

They will be required to follow a PM schedule, spending most of their time doing mechanical PM/repairs & troubleshooting.

There will be minor welds that are necessary.

The work itself is mainly inside, and the facility is quite dusty, greasy & grimy.

The actual maintenance shop is much cleaner & organized.

The millwright will be required to complete paperwork for certain projects: (Project code/parts used).

They will not be required to work with electronics or motors.

The team culture is close-knit, family-oriented.

They do BBQs on a monthly basis.

They need a Red Seal and must be flexible with shifts.

The millwright may also be required to fill in on certain vacation spots on different shifts.

PPE includes a $175 boot allowance on every pair except their first and coveralls (provided).

The maintenance rate is $45.90. Non-ticketed millwrights earn 90% of the Red Seal rate. Shift premiums vary based on the schedule. Tool premium is $0.20. Engineer or Boiler Ticket Premium is $1.00. Journeyperson who voluntarily agrees to carry cell phones for call-ins will be paid a cell phone premium of fifty dollars ($50.00) per day.
