Where the team fits in

The Senior Developer role sits in the Enquiries squad that supports the Consumer team in building Consumer features across the Real Estate website.

What the role is all about

This role sits within Consumer, Consumer Marketplaces Portfolio. The Enquiries squad is a full-stack development driven team that focus mainly on solving Consumer and Customer problems related to the Enquiries process and pipeline. The squad has a strong focus to review the current Consumer experience of submitting Enquiries on our platform and translating that to Customer value by presenting Customers with potential leads for their business.

We are looking for a Senior Back-end Developer who is passionate about supporting the Consumer experience. You will be working collaboratively with our product and technical team members to help deliver and support REA’s main website. The Senior Developer supports the team in the following ways:

  • Help design, implement and maintain our Real estate Web features and Back-end capabilities specifically surrounding the Enquiries process

  • Input into delivery planning and technical design by providing a balanced view of options, effort and quality considerations

  • Keep abreast of the latest technology advancements to inform product and technical design

  • Proactively contribute to the continuous improvement of products, technology, processes and team development

  • Actively develop skills and experience through continual learning and evaluation

  • Maintaining and supporting production systems and users in different capacities (custodianship, business hours pager, help channel requests

Who we’re looking for

  • Someone with a few runs on the board

  • Experience working in full-stack development is highly valued

  • 3+ years of experience working in back-end development

  • Proficiency in one or more of our primary programming languages - Kotlin, Java, Scala etc.

  • Experience building and maintaining production services and data pipelines

  • Developed skills in software development techniques such as object orientation, functional programming, test driven development and continuous delivery

  • Open to learning other languages and frameworks that support our technical direction

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative environment

  • Looks at tricky situations through a solutions-focused lens

  • Work productively in a fast paced and agile environment
