Providence VP Hosting Engineering in Renton, Washington

Description

THE ROLE

The Vice President for Service Engineering is accountable to drive continuous improvement across the Providence Saint Joseph Health technology services ecosystem through three key areas:

Service Process Management: Working with leaders across the IS organization, identify and map core IS service processes across the technology landscape to ensure a complete process roadmap is understood. This work will leverage existing efforts where they exist and through partnership build new service processes maps as appropriate. As the service landscape is understood, focus will shift toward ongoing governance (for example the creation of a service management office governance structure) and driving the modernization of core IS service processes.

Service Engineering: In partnership with executive and operational leadership, as well as the Service Analytics team, drive improvement of IS service delivery across the PSJH enterprise. Using foundational analytics, identify service issues and work with technology owners to engineer issues out of the environment. Where appropriate develop tools and implement new solutions to support service monitoring and/or improved service delivery.

Hosting Modernization and Management: Develop a strategic roadmap for the modernization of the Cloud and On-prem hosting services landscape. Directly lead the hosting service engineering, software engineering, cloud engineering, and technical program management functions in US and India to operate and modernize 24x7 hosting services across Providence. Partner with other engineering and application leaders inside and outside Information Services to understand technology needs and rapidly develop forward facing modern solutions to address gaps. Partner effectively with external vendors and OEMs to continue to evolve technology platforms and underlying contractual and financial terms to ensure we stay on current and most cost-effective platforms.

The VP for Hosting Service Engineering is part of the Technology Engineering and Operations pillar within Information Services and directly reports to the CTO of Providence. The VP will also serve as a technical advisor to the leaders across the CTO organization to help drive technology strategies forward.

The Vice President for Hosting Service Engineering shall perform all duties in a manner that promotes PSJH mission, values, and philosophy. In all aspects, the leader serves as a role model for the values and mission of the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Working with leaders across the IS organization, identify and map core IS service processes across the technology landscape to ensure a complete process roadmap is understood.   • Working with leaders across the IS organization, identify and map core IS service processes across the technology landscape to ensure a complete process roadmap is understood. This work will leverage existing efforts where they exist and through partnership build new service processes maps as appropriate.   • Develop a strategic roadmap for the modernization of the on-prem and cloud hosting services landscape. Directly lead the 24x7 operations, software and service engineering efforts, development of future technology (software, hardware and process) improvement roadmaps. Partner with engineering, operational and application leaders inside and outside Information Services to understand technology needs and rapidly develop forward facing modern solutions to address gaps. Ensure ongoing support and compliance for application ecosystem.

  • Identifies and develops custom solutions, in alignment with PSJH IS strategy, to address gaps & opportunities between enterprise IS strategy and business partners strategic roadmap.

  • Serve as the executive leader for a team of senior leaders, analysts, engineers, project managers, and other roles required to support execution of strategic road maps.

  • The Vice President for Service Engineering shall perform all duties in a manner that promotes PSJH mission, values, and philosophy. In all aspects, the leader serves as a role model for the values and mission of the organization.

  • Serve as a technical advisor to the leaders across the CTO organization to help drive technology strategies forward.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's Degree in Technology, Management, Healthcare, or related field; or equivalent educ/experience

  • Bachelor's Degree required (Technology, Engineering, or related field preferred)

  • More than 10 years of senior technology leadership experience including experience related to Service Engineering and/or software engineering and development

  • More than 10 years of experience in leading a team to support the creation and execution of strategic plans / roadmaps to address service and process gaps

  • 5 years of experience working in a leadership role that required collaborating across multiple technology and/or business functions to achieve business outcomes

  • 5 years of experience working in a technology leadership role that had involvement in technology engineering and/or engineering operations

  • Ability to analyze information, evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems (preferred)

  • Ability to analyze information gathered by investigation, and report findings and recommendations (preferred)

  • Demonstrated problem solving skills (preferred)

  • Demonstrated analytical skills and data-driven approach (preferred)

  • Knowledge of financial principles and practices and the ability to apply them effectively (preferred).
