Job Description:

The Director of Finance Solutions will serve as a lead for the Workday Finance Implementation Team. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Operations/Chief Financial Officer (AVP/CFO), this position will collaborate with process stakeholders and other impacted parties to identify and develop optimal finance workflows and manage team progress. This role includes specific responsibilities to the UF Foundation (UFF), UF Alumni Association (UFAA) and the University of Florida Investment Corporation (UFICO). Additionally, the Director of Finance Solutions will leverage subject matter experts and campus expertise to ensure shared governance of potential solutions.

Design & Implementation

  • Collaborate across the enterprise to understand requirements, configuration and testing of Workday solutions for relevant business processes to optimize the use of Workday for the UFF, UFAA and UFICO.

  • Work closely with other workstream leads and business partners to understand business processes, goals and gaps. Analyzes, documents and tests system configuration and reports.

  • Learn key software capabilities and how they can be applied to their area and provide input into design of business solutions.

  • Assist with testing and the development and implementation of end-user training.

    Finance Workflows

  • Facilitate sessions surrounding current and proposed processes with functional owners, subject matter experts and end-user representatives.

  • Assess current financial policies and procedures and, from that, recommend the ideal workflow to be used with the new system.

  • Ensure that workflows incorporate key controls as identified in policies and procedures.

  • Work closely with other workstream leads and business partners to evaluate how implementation will affect workflow, data and reporting.

  • Recommend process changes based on their evaluations and input.

    Project Management

  • Develop and track project requirements, project phasing and schedule for relevant area and coordinates with Finance Implementation Project Lead to ensure accurate prioritization and appropriate resources.

  • Communicate, in close collaboration, with the FI Project Lead for relevant area and serves as a central source of information.

  • Document, communicate and manage process changes that surface during design and implementation related to relevant area.

  • Participate in the communication of changes and go live support processes and assists in the development of end-user training and job aids.

  • Coordinate with change management teams to ensure smooth transitions and adoption of new processes.

  • Assist with problem solving to overcome obstacles encountered by the team and elevates issues to project manager when necessary.

  • Regularly communicate project status to project manager and Empowering UF team.

Minimum Requirements:

Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and six years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and eight years of appropriate experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • CPA licensure preferred.

  • Experience in implementing and configuring a large-scale ERP, including setup and maintenance of financial structures, chart of accounts and accounting rules. Experience in the higher education or public sector ERP implementations is preferred.

  • Experience with unitized endowments, including the management and reporting of pooled investment funds.

  • Strong understanding of financial processes, accounting principles and financial reporting, including the use of ERP tools for generating financial reports.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think through issues and provide alternate, well-defined solutions.

  • Experience in change management, including developing strategies to facilitate organizational adoption of new systems and processes.

  • Experience in developing and delivering end-user training and support materials.

  • Must be an outstanding communicator and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills; interpersonal skills; and the ability to work collegially and interact effectively with a diverse constituency.

  • Proven success working with stakeholders; excellent strategic planning and project management skills; experience in a data-driven environment; organizational skills; and the ability to lead, influence and motivate others are required.

  • High-level proficiency in all aspects of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

  • Detail-oriented with a focus on delivering high-quality results within established timelines.

  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities and meet project deadlines.

  • Working knowledge in these areas: Windows, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, internet browsers, preferably Internet Explorer, E-mail. Working knowledge of a donor database, contact management and tracking system.

  • The ability and willingness to travel. A valid driver license and good driving record are essential.*
