Create designs, prototypes and/or concepts for business productivity, gaming, entertainment, or other software or hardware applications. Estimate individual schedule (e.g., time requirements) for work delivery. Define needs of product designs based on multiple factors such as user insights and business needs. Help identify needs and raise them with senior team members. Generate ideation solutions to improve product designs. Utilize a variety of perspectives when ideating (e.g., business, experience, technology). Synthesize ideation solutions into a concise articulation of user wants and subsequent solutions. Participate in ideation exercises as part of a design sprint. Create wireframes, journey maps, user jobs and scenarios, information architecture, task flows, and personas in support of interaction designs for hardware and/or software-based experiences under the direction of a senior team member. Conceptualize and deliver artifacts at various levels of fidelity. Participate in the development and enhancement of product user experience via creation of interaction models and detailed designs for new and existing product features. Assist others to help ensure that the designs of the products allow the user to complete the desired functions in the best possible manner. Advocate and design with accessibility best practices. Create prototypes that help present design solutions to team members and customers. Present to Engineering to receive feedback and articulate customer needs. Collaborate with and answer questions from Engineering to aid in successful design implementation and performs QAs to help them ensure high quality and detailed designs. Work with developers to iterate further on designs during implementation to ensure optimal designs. Contribute to visual designs from concept to delivery under the guidance of senior team members. Facilitate the creative visual design process by producing the visual language for a product. Create a variety of visual design documents including mood boards, storyboards, creative briefs, product renderings/visualizations, color and materials design, motion studies, iconography, illustrations, layouts, and redlines for an assigned product, tool, or service. Telecommuting permitted 100% from any location within mainland U.S.

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent degree in Industrial Design; Graphic Design; Computer Interaction; Computer Aided Design; Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.

EXPERIENCE: Six (6) months of experience improving user experience or providing design solutions.       

SPECIFIC SKILLS: This position also requires education or experience in: User experience design; Web UI; Prototyping; Figma; User experience research; Illustrator; and Photoshop.  

Pay Range and Benefits Information: The offered base pay range for this specific position (TSBRR17759a), based in Redmond, WA (but telecommuting permitted 100% from any location in the U.S.), is $118,400 to $148,400.

 

Microsoft has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the United States, which allows us to pay employees competitively and consistently in different geographic markets. Individual base pay depends on various factors, in addition to primary work location, such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. Base pay ranges are reviewed and typically updated each year. Offers are made within the base pay range applicable at the time.
