The Customer Service Applications Team delivers business applications for Connected Customer Care for Contact Centers! We are building the next generation of our applications running on Azure that pull together Dynamics 365, Office 365 and a number of other Microsoft cloud services to deliver high value, complete, and predictive application scenarios across all devices and form factors.

As a Principal Software Engineer in the Microsoft Dynamics Customer Service Applications team, you will work with senior business and technology leaders as well as internal business users and Partners to conceive, design and implement Dynamics 365 applications and pick the best technical architecture to solve their business needs.

Responsibilities

This Principal Software Enginee r opportunity will allow you to make a broad positive impact that will include building appealing developer experiences, solving complex algorithmic problems, forging real-time troubleshooting tools via complex data models, streamlining our monitoring systems, evolving our metrics to enable large scale performance optimizations, or even enabling intricate business/engineering processes.

As an engineer, you will be responsible for implementing features towards a wide variety of business applications and services within Dynamics 365 products portfolio as well as ensuring they are done to meet rigorous quality standards with the result being software that is used by individuals and businesses throughout the world.

As the Principal Software Engineer on the Dynamic 365 team, you will be responsible for:

  • Partners with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a set of scenarios.

  • Leads efforts and discussions for the architecture of aspects of products/solutions (e.g., design, cost). Creates proposals for architecture and design documents and leads testing of hypotheses and proposed solutions.

  • Leads by example and mentors’ others to produce extensible and maintainable code used across products. Leads efforts to optimize, debug, refactor, and reuse code to improve performance and maintainability, effectiveness, and return on investment (ROI). Identifies best practices and coding patterns and provides deep expertise in the coding and validation strategy.

  • Leads efforts for creation and conducting of experimentation to determine the effectiveness of changes, monitors developments for prototyping and testing products, interprets results, and decides on next steps or ship decision from results.

  • Holds accountability as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and mentors other engineers across products/solutions, working on call to monitor system/product/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions.

  • Applies, extrapolates, and identifies best practices and shares information with other engineers to reliably build code that is based on well-established methods while also applying best practices for new code development.

  • Proactively seeks new knowledge and adapts to new trends, technical solutions, and patterns that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale and shares knowledge with other engineers.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C#, C/C++, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 8+ years professional software development with at least one of the following C#/C++/Java, SQL, React/Angular, Typescript

  • Experience with design and implementation of enterprise-scale services. 

  • Experience delivering Dynamics 365 and/or Power Platform solutions desirable. 

  • Proficient verbal, written, and cross-team collaboration skills are essential to succeed in this role. 

  • A team player and collaborator, across time zones and diverse stakeholder groups. 

  • Passion for improving software quality and engineering excellence.

  • Experience in developing, debugging, and supporting code in object-oriented languages and database querying languages.

  • Experience with building infrastructure using Microsoft Azure technology like Service Fabric, App Service, Docker.

  • Experience in developing and debugging product and test code within micro-services architecture.

Software Engineering M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
