Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Staff Accountant and Tax Preparer with proven experience utilizing Lacerte Tax Software. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of accounting tasks essential to maintaining the financial health of our clients, preparing accurate and timely tax returns, and managing day-to-day financial transactions. This role requires a solid understanding of general accounting principles, tax regulations, and a commitment to delivering exceptional client service.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting and Bookkeeping
Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts and prepare financial statements.
Process accounts payable and receivable, journal entries, payroll, and bank reconciliations.
Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
Tax Preparation
Prepare and file accurate federal, state, and local income tax returns for individuals, businesses, and organizations.
Utilize Lacerte Tax Software to efficiently handle tax preparation tasks and ensure compliance with applicable tax laws.
Conduct thorough reviews of tax returns to detect and correct errors or omissions.
Stay updated with the latest tax codes, regulations, and industry trends.
Client Support
Communicate with clients to gather financial and tax-related information.
Provide excellent customer service by addressing client inquiries and offering personalized tax and accounting advice.
Collaborate with clients on tax planning strategies to minimize liabilities and optimize future outcomes.
Compliance and Reporting
Ensure compliance with all tax laws, guidelines, and internal procedures.
Assist with audits, tax notices, and represent clients with tax authorities as needed.
Prepare ad hoc reports and analyses to support clients and internal leadership.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA certification (preferred, but not required).
Experience: 2+ years of experience in accounting and tax preparation, with hands-on proficiency using Lacerte Tax Software.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and tax regulations.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, and accounting software.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work with diverse clients and team members.
Problem-solving abilities and analytical mindset to tackle complex financial and tax issues.
