Red Hat Software Engineer in Raleigh, North Carolina

Perform software testing of the tools and the release process while making modifications to Red Hat software that help in releasing the products. Modify the Red Hat tools to correct software errors and improve its performance of product releases.

*Telecommuting role to be performed anywhere in the U.S.

What You Will Do:

  • Perform data manipulation activities like store retrieve and modify to perform an analysis of the current systems in place.

  • Analyze user needs and software requirements of Red Hat engineering to determine if the software design is feasible within the cost and time constraints.

  • Collaborate with programmers, testers and architects to validate the requirements and design the software solution that meets the performance requirements.

  • Monitor the Red Hat services that help in product releases to ensure they meet the availability requirements.

  • Establish milestones for necessary contributions from departments and develop processes to facilitate their collaboration.

  • Define and set up development, test, release, update, and support processes for DevOps operation and help build a CI/CD pipeline.

  • Interact with Red Hat software users to ensure Red Hat products match their requirements. Mentor and guide junior engineers.

What You Will Bring:

  • Master’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field and two (2) years of experience in the job offered or related role OR Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field and four (4) years of experience in the job offered or related role.

  • Must have two (2) years of experience with software development environments or equivalent;

  • Must have two (2) years of experience with Open Source Linux systems;

  • Must have two (2) years of experience with building and maintaining microservices based application and infrastructure;

  • Must have two (2) years of experience with GitLab CI development or any similar CI/CD system;

  • Must have two (2) years of experience with implementing monitoring tools;

  • Must have two (2) years of experience with Ansible or any configuration management tool;

  • Must have two (2) years of experience with cloud platforms;

  • Must have two (2) years of experience with managing systems in AWS;

  • Must have two (2) years of experience with programming with Python and Golang;

  • Must have two (2) years of experience with bash and scripting fundamentals;

  • Must have two (2) years of experience with OpenShift, Docker or Kubernetes;

  • Must have two (2) years of experience with reviewing, verifying, and validating the software code developed in a project;

  • Must have two (2) years of experience with troubleshooting application and pipeline issues;

  • Must have two (2) years of experience with Agile Development practices;

  • Must have two (2) years of experience with configuration and managing databases;

  • Must have one (1) year of optimization experience in AWS and Cloud security.

The salary range for this position is $127,629 - $144,660. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.

Pay Transparency

Red Hat determines compensation based on several factors including but not limited to job location, experience, applicable skills and training, external market value, and internal pay equity. Annual salary is one component of Red Hat’s compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, and/or equity. For positions with Remote-US locations, the actual salary range for the position may differ based on location but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
