Position Summary:
The Manager, Accounting at Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. offers an excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic environment. This position entails making key decisions related to compensation and evaluating employee performance using our PMD Tool, alongside conducting monthly 1:1s with direct reports. You’ll also manage administrative and other people management tasks as part of your responsibilities.
Main Responsibilities
Lead the Record to Report supervision team, ensuring world-class operational performance through strategic orientation and direction.
Ensure strict compliance with departmental and organizational objectives, adhering to established policies and processes.
Perform administrative tasks related to personnel management according to established policies and procedures, including attendance control, vacation planning, and performance evaluations.
Carry out development conversations and follow up with team members to foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
Schedule regular meetings with supervisors to review metrics, analyze monthly results, and discuss staff issues and updates on corporate processes and policies.
Coordinate all intercompany activities during month-end close, ensuring timely completion.
Find opportunities for continuous process improvement and propose innovative solutions for efficient and profitable department operations.
Support internal and external audit processes and SOX compliance initiatives, maintaining strict control over operating procedures.
Develop strategies to improve employee engagement and dedication through motivation and opportunities offered by Thermo Fisher Scientific.
Determine the need for adequate personnel to ensure efficient operation flow and support the hiring process accordingly.
Implement standardization methods for operations, developing performance metrics to ensure tasks are completed with precision and success.
Participate in organizational-level strategies promoting continuous improvement of the Shared Service Center.
Basic Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or 8+ years of experience in similar positions.
3+ years of proven leadership experience.
Experience in Shared Service Centers.
B2+ English Level.
Proficiency in MS Office: Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel (intermediate/advanced).
Experience with ERPs such as Oracle, SAP, JDEdwards, Mainframe.
US GAAP experience.
Experience with Backline or Hyperion (plus).
Experience with bank platforms (plus).
Experience with SOX Compliance (plus).
