U.S. Marine Corps OPERATIONS RESEARCH ANALYST in Quantico, Virginia

Summary You will serve as an OPERATIONS RESEARCH ANALYST in the CAPABILITIES ANALYSIS BRANCH, OPERATIONS ANALYSIS DIRECTORATE (OAD) of MARINE CORPS COMBAT DEVELOPMENT CMD. Responsibilities You will utilize fundamental concepts and techniques of operations research and applied mathematics to solve problems, identify trends, or improve programs / operations. You will collect and analyze data using database, spreadsheet, and statistics applications to achieve the goals of the organization. You will use analysis techniques such as modeling and simulation, decision analysis or design of experiments to generate reports for senior leaders in the organization. You will present findings to supervisors involving issues in scope, schedule, or other aspects of studies that affect the quality, timing, and relevance of the analysis. You will review technical reports, papers, scientific journals, and textbooks to enhance knowledge of operations research and operational testing. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-7 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Performance in terms of operational effectiveness, capabilities, and limitations AND conducting studies and analyses using appropriate operations research techniques. Education Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: A bachelor's or higher degree in operations research. OR Must have a bachelor's or higher degree with at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics and at least 3 of the 24 semester hours are in calculus. Additional Requirements: In lieu of specialized experience listed in the Qualifications section, applicants may qualify based on equivalent combination of education and experience, as follows: GS-09: Completed two years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience. Only graduate level education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level may be combined with experience.
