Bureau of Reclamation Fish and Wildlife Biologist in Provo, Utah

Summary Reclamation is seeking a career professional looking for an opportunity to capitalize on their expertise as a Fish and Wildlife Biologist. You can make a difference in the West by assisting in meeting increasing water demands while protecting the environment. Duty Location: Provo, Utah This position is concurrently open to Merit Promotion eligibles under Announcement Number BOR-UCB-24-12430693-MP-OPM. Responsibilities Performing data analysis and writes objective reports to evaluate findings. Preparing correspondence pertaining to technical aspects of the work. Conducting on-goings analysis of program and analyzes results of studies or investigations. Preparing reports with recommendation for changes, elimination, or improvement of operations and program plans. Requirements Conditions of Employment You must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National. BASIC QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT: Degree: In an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to this position. NOTE: You must submit copies of your transcripts. OR Combination of Education and Experience: That includes 24 semester hours in course work in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position, PLUS appropriate experience or additional education. In addition to meeting one of the Basic Requirements listed above, applicants must meet the following Minimum Qualifications Requirement in order to be considered: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience and/or education for the respective grade level in which you are applying: Specialized Experience for GS-7: Applicants must have one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service (obtained either in the private or public sectors) performing the following:(1) Environmental site assessments, (2) Clean Water Act (CWA) compliance (i.e. wetland delineations, 404, 402, or Stream Alteration permits), (3) National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance (i.e. categorical exclusions, environmental assessments, or environmental impact statements), (4) Endangered Species Act (ESA) compliance (biological evaluations or assessments or initiation of informal or formal section 7 consultation), or (5) Experience with GIS to map or assess habitat. OR Education: Successful completion of at least 1 year of graduate-level education or superior academic achievement. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Note: Please submit a copy of your graduate transcripts with your application. NOTE: You must include transcripts. OR Combination: Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. To combine education and experience, first take the total number of months of full-time qualifying experience and divide by 12 months to get a percentage of the required experience above. Then determine your education as a percentage of the education substitution stated above. When adding the two percentages, the total must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. You must include transcripts.
