Associate Director of Outreach and Recruiting
The Associate Director of Outreach and Recruiting is responsible for all outreach and recruiting efforts within Admissions. In addition to traditional outreach efforts, the Associate Director will ensure that all efforts incorporate messaging for all underrepresented populations in addition to the current target populations. The Associate Director will develop and implement new programs to prepare students for college to increase the socioeconomic and racial diversity of the BYU applicant pool.
This individual will use a design-based research, iterative approach as they design, implement, and measure this new program. This will require significant experience with instructional design and educational research. This person will need to work with deans and other leaders across campus to coordinate the programs. They will also need to work closely with leaders in the Enrollment Services division and with organizations external to the university. They will also coordinate with General Counsel and Risk Management. This role reports directly to the Director of Admissions and will be responsible to meet specific outreach and recruiting objectives over time that will be set by the Director in consultation with the Associate Director of Outreach and Recruiting.
What you will be doing in this position:
Coordinate with the Director of Admissions to define and implement the outreach strategy
Oversee all outreach and recruiting employees and their efforts
Ensure all employees involved in outreach efforts complete a trainings in "Belonging" and stay up to date on related issues
Oversee the planning and execution of on-campus tours to provide prospective students with engaging and informative experiences.
Lead the execution of the outreach and recruiting strategic goals, including communication with internal and external partners.
Manage the recruitment team, student employees, and potential volunteers at BYU and nationwide, ensuring efficient operations and goal achievement.
Oversee the implementation of the programs, including communication with internal and external partners.
Develop preparation programs for prospective students to increase college readiness and continue to build the BYU applicant pool.
Collaborate with leaders across campus to ensure that efforts are coordinated and supported as needed
Follow a design-based research approach to iterate the programs development. This includes clearly defining the objectives of the program in coordination with the Director of Admissions, determining how results will be measured, and designing a feedback mechanism to facilitate this iterative approach to design.
Participate in and certify in admission committee member training
Participate as an official member of the undergraduate admission committee
What qualifies you for this role:
Education/Experience
Minimum required:
Bachelor's Degree in Instructional Design or another Education-related field of study and 5 plus years of experience in program or instructional design; or equivalent combination of experience and education.
Preferred:
Master's Degree in Instructional Design or another Education-related field of study and 7 plus years of experience in program or instructional design; or equivalent combination of experience and education.
Skills, abilities, knowledge, licenses, certifications:
Organization, planning, and project management skills (required)
Knowledge and understanding of all aspects of communications, including information gathering, information analysis, assessment needs, and market, development of communication strategies, effective implementation, and execution of plans as appropriate for various external and internal audiences (preferred)
Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, han le and prioritize simultaneous requests, and manage both laterally and upwards (required)
Able to understand and effectively communicate across division offices, as the position's role will be both strategic and tactical (required)
Ability to work with confidential information (required)
Excellent verbal and written skills (required)
Demonstrated effectiveness in working with cross-functional teams (preferred)
Demonstrated supervisory and performance management skills (preferred)
Pay Level: 54
