Electrical Engineer I or II – Electrical Controls and Power Electronics

HYG is looking for an energetic individual who will have a positive influence on the Electrical Controls and Power Electronics team. As an engineer for this team, you will participate in supporting a wide variety of research and development activities across multiple functional groups.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, design, release, and follow up development activities to ensure that the engineering outputs meet the quality, reliability, performance, and cost expectations of the customer, for the following systems:

  • Electric Vehicles

  • Hydrogen Fuel Cells

  • Telematics

  • Vehicle Networks

  • Electrical Components

  • Collaborate and provide support to the Manufacturing, Sourcing, Marketing, and Aftermarket groups engaged in the project.

  • Develop system and component level requirements from truck level requirements

  • Support development testing to ensure design robustness to requirements.

  • Developing and debugging of embedded systems hardware and software

  • In-depth analysis of electronic and electrical component specifications

  • Analyze data and communicate test results both verbally and through written reports

  • Provide product/process specification documents, detailed drawings, test engineering reports, sales and product information.

The Successful Engineer (I or II) Will Meet the Following Minimum Qualifications:

For the Engineer I:

  • B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering or related STEM degree

  • A new graduate or with limited experience

  • Basic knowledge and proficiency in drafting practices, CAD, design layouts and engineering analysis

  • Basic knowledge and proficiency in electrical components, circuits, control theory, electric motor drive theory, power electronics and inversion, and battery management systems.

  • Awareness of real time control networks for controlling vehicle/automotive type machines for the global marketplace.

  • Basic knowledge in control system design and architectures including both electronic hardware and software of embedded systems

For the Engineer II (in addition to the above):

  • B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering or related STEM degree

  • One - two years engineering experience and/or 2 internships (e.g., MECOP)

  • Basic knowledge and proficiency in some or more of vehicle/automotive technology, manufacturing technology, design/test experience, test practices and procedures.

  • Basic proficiency of real time control networks for controlling vehicle/automotive/industrial type machines for the global marketplace.

  • Teamwork and Flexibility: Function well in a team environment by working well with other employees and other departments.

  • Occasional travel may be required (less than 10% total time)
