Are you a hardworking and skilled individual looking for an exciting opportunity to contribute to the success of a cooperative grain elevator in Platte, SD? Farmers Elevator Company of Platte seeks the right candidate to join our dynamic team. This team is essential in the day-to-day operations of our grain elevator facility, ensuring the efficient handling and processing of various agricultural commodities. On-the-job training provided.

Responsibilities:

Load and unload products from trucks. Unload incoming grain trucks and perform grain quality inspections to ensure compliance with established standards. Weigh and grade incoming and outgoing trucks accurately, ensuring compliance with standards and specifications. Maintain accurate records of transactions and inventory. Provide exceptional customer service to farmers, customers, and suppliers. Monitor grain storage conditions. Safely operate forklifts, skid steers, and other machinery. Adhere to all safety protocols, regulations, and company policies. Perform routine maintenance on equipment and report any malfunctions or repairs as needed. Perform routine maintenance and housekeeping tasks to keep the grain elevator clean, organized, and hazard-free.

Qualifications:

Successfully pass pre-employment drug/alcohol screening and physical. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Valid driver's license. Ability to drive manual transmission. Ability to read, write, and communicate verbally. Prior experience in a grain elevator or agricultural setting is preferred, but not required. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while ensuring attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including occasionally lifting heavy objects, climbing ladders, and working at heights in various weather conditions. Strong attention to detail and ability to perform tasks with accuracy. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Basic computer skills and ability to operate grain handling equipment. Commitment to safety and ability to follow safety guidelines and protocols. Willingness to work extended hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, during peak harvest seasons.

Physical Requirements:

Standing/working on feet for extended periods and walking across uneven terrain, climbing up and down ladders and stairways. Able to physically lift heavy materials (up to 50 pounds) frequently throughout the work shift. Able to work in extreme weather conditions and elements, including but not limited to heat, cold, rain, mud, dust, etc. Able to wear personal protective equipment and any other safety-related equipment. Frequent exposure to noise and dust.
