Reconciles book-to-physical merchandise counts and general ledger accounts. Compiles both regular and ad-hoc reports and answers both general and job-specific accounting questions. Requires day-to-day contact with field locations and various corporate departments.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepares and reviews journal entries.

  • Prepares and reviews assigned P&L account variances analyses.

  • Prepares and reviews assigned balance sheet account fluctuation analyses.

  • Assists with close activities as assigned.

  • Prepares and reviews assigned account reconciliations.

  • Researches and resolves any general ledger system issues together with IT personnel and others as required.

  • Monitors and documents departmental policies and procedures to ensure 100% compliance with SOX requirements.

  • Supports special projects as needed.

  • Assists in collecting and compiling data for inclusion in budget documents, financial statements and other reports.

  • Assists in monitoring departmental accounts by gathering reports and records; identifies errors and discrepancies.

  • Inputs data, records and verifies details of transactions in journals, ledgers and automated systems.

  • Reviews and processes financial documents such as invoices, vouchers, receipts, requisitions, timesheets and reports, ensuring accuracy of mathematical computations and completeness.

  • Performs complex clerical accounting such as posting and reconciling ledgers, bank accounts, preparing trial balances and statistical reports, resolving cash accounting discrepancies.

  • Leads others in accounting clerical activities of a unit, provides guidance and instruction; assists in determining work priorities.

  • Compiles and / or coordinates collection of data for inclusion in a variety of regular reports following prescribed format.

  • Reviews and / or processes financial documents such as invoices, vouchers, receipts, requisitions and reports, ensuring accuracy of mathematical computations and completeness, resolves discrepancies.

  • Performs analysis of sales transactions and back account deposits by reviewing entries, verifying amounts, compiling and comparing balances.

  • Maintains manual and automated record keeping systems by tracking, verifying and updating records, files and reports.

  • Inputs, monitors and corrects data in automated systems, generates reports.

  • Prepares schedules and analyses as requested by internal, external and SOX auditors.

  • Works with other departments as needed.

minimum Requirements

Education

  • Associate’s degree in Accounting or a related field

Experience

  • Four (4) years of accounting support experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong organization skills with ability to manage large workload

  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency in MS Excel and Access

  • Ability to manage special projects

  • Ability to respond quickly and accurately to various requests

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and respond appropriately to management.

  • Ability to interface well with personnel at all levels

  • Experience in satisfying Sox compliance activities

  • Ability to lead and train others in assigned accounting, clerical or bookkeeping work

  • Ability to communicate effectively

WORK CONDITIONS

Work Environment

  • Work indoors during all seasons and weather conditions

  • Limited amount of local and/or multiple location traveling required

  • Standard business dress is required.

Work Postures

  • Sitting continuously for many hours per day, up to 6 hours per day

  • Physical effort requiring manual dexterity is required, includes paperwork, calculators, computers and phone usage
