Shift: Overnight

Summary:

Supervise all Central Processing activities to provide quality, efficient, cost-effective decontamination, sterilization and distribution services with proper management of service utilization and inventory levels.

Responsibilities:

  • Effectively manages and supervises all activities of CPD and QA technicians.

  • Responsible for ensuring that all department personnel adhere to both Administrative and departmental policies and procedures.

  • Coordinates and prioritizes overall workload for CPD.

  • Enforces compliance with all Infection Control, JCAHO, Federal, State, Local hospital and departmental regulations.

  • Responsible for monitoring performance of employees and systems within CPD.

  • Utilizes resources effectively to ensure productivity measures are achieved.

  • Maintains, monitors and controls service specific instrumentation/ supplies.

  • Collaborates with CPD Educator to ensure orientation, competencies and in-servicing training goals are achieved.

  • Ensures that employees attend required inservice programs, and complete all Mandatory Education programs.

  • Ensures that all equipment is functioning properly, notifies manufacturer immediately when malfunctions occur and follows up on recurring issues.

  • Develops departmental performance improvement programs.

  • Identifies and implements cost containment initiatives in collaboration with CPD Director.

  • Responsible for ensuring that all externs/ students adhere to both departmental and Administrative polices and procedures. Ensures that all educational requirements are achieved.

  • Responsible for all quality control programs necessary to ensure department employee and patient safety.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education or Equivalent Experience:

  • HS diploma/GED required.

  • Extensive experience in Central Service and Instrument Processing at the technician level or above.

  • Minimum of four years experience in the technical aspects of the Central Service and/or Instrument Department required.

  • Current Central Service certification is required.

  • Bachelors Degree with courses in Management and/or Science Degree is preferred.

  • Thorough knowledge of Health Agency Regulations pertaining to Central Processing.

  • Managerial experience preferred.
