ManpowerGroup Maintenance Supervisor in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Our client, a growing manufacturing company is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to join their team.

Job Summary

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for ensuring optimal production output and the smooth operation of all equipment and machinery. This role requires strong administrative and organizational skills, as well as the ability to lead a team of maintenance technicians. The Maintenance Supervisor will mentor and develop their team, enhancing their mechanical skills to improve production efficiency. This self-motivated individual must possess strong analytical and problem-solving abilities and excel in collaboration and influence at all organizational levels.

Responsibilities

  • Reports to the Engineering & Maintenance Manager.

  • Ensure the production of safe, high-quality products.

  • Serve as the backup for the Maintenance/Engineering Manager during absences.

  • Communicate with the Maintenance Manager, Maintenance Technicians, and Production Department regarding repairs, downtime scheduling, and production input.

  • Assist mechanics in performing daily tasks and reporting duties, ensuring proper logging of problems, repairs, and parts usage.

  • Handle basic office tasks such as parts ordering, work scheduling, payroll accounting, PM scheduling, and record-keeping.

  • Manage the Preventive Maintenance (PM) program, including setup, updates, and schedule adjustments.

  • Regularly inspect plant equipment, assigning necessary repairs.

  • Review maintenance logs and follow up on unresolved issues from previous shifts.

  • Oversee work orders from previous shifts to ensure task completion.

  • Schedule workloads for shifts, including scheduled repairs and PMs.

  • Report daily to the Maintenance Manager on the maintenance crew's activities and equipment status.

  • Train alongside the Maintenance/Engineering Manager to potentially fill the role within 3-5 years.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  • High School diploma or equivalent education required.

  • Five (5) years of mechanical experience or equivalent training.

  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a Maintenance department.

  • Ability to work independently within a team environment.

  • Practical sense in working with and troubleshooting equipment problems.

  • Team player with strong communication skills.

  • Leadership in fostering team spirit.

  • Ability to detect and troubleshoot problems and perform proper repairs.

  • Knowledge of mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics, electricity, industrial refrigeration, baking processes, sanitation, and quality control.

  • Basic fabrication skills such as welding, cutting, grinding, and machine work.

  • Compliance with all GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices).

Preferred Qualifications

  • College degree preferred.

  • Experience in food manufacturing preferred.

  • Proficiency in troubleshooting PLC systems preferred.
