Job Title: Engineering Project Team Leader (Engineering Technical Compliance)

Salary: £60,000 - £74,000 (Depending on experience)

Location : Peterborough – hybrid working pattern available

About LPSD

The Caterpillar Large Power Systems Division (LPSD) has locations across the world where large engine platforms for multiple Caterpillar brands are developed, designed, and manufactured to be used in oil & gas, electric power, marine, rail and Cat machine applications. LPSD also designs and manufactures drivetrains and the four key engine systems -- fuel systems, air systems, aftertreatment systems and cooling systems that determine the cost and performance trajectory of most Caterpillar engines and machines.

What You Will Do:

Caterpillar’s Emissions & Power Systems Regulatory Compliance (EPRC) Group is accountable for interpreting, communicating, and leading the enterprise to a strong position of global emissions and power systems regulatory compliance.

We are recruiting for the position of Engineering Compliance Project Lead, which for the right candidate will present opportunity and challenge in equal measures. The role will suit candidates with a background in product development, validation, project management, quality, or compliance, providing the opportunity to develop an understanding of product regulations and exposure to a broad range of engineering and business functions.

As an Engineering Compliance Project Lead the successful candidate will lead new process development and exiting process improvement projects that support EPRC’s strategy. These will interface with enterprise partners technical teams. Support of New Product and New Technology programs developing Caterpillar’s family of Powertrain, and Diesel Engine products are other key responsibilities, ensuring that relevant product regulations are met.

The role involves supporting and promoting existing processes and leading the analysis and identification of regulatory process requirements to ensure coverage. This will include the development and implementation of governance processes, collaborating with engineers to assess designs, and agreeing plans and priorities with Program Managers.

The ideal candidate will have an enthusiasm for Safety, along with a broad range of technical knowledge, and an ability to deliver projects and actions through Product Development teams.

Job Responsibilities :

  • Lead and manage compliance process improvement projects to ensure that regulatory requirements are conformed to efficiently. This could be within the team or the broader enterprise.

  • Develop project scope to address business challenges and opportunities.

  • Coordinating resources across the businesses with sales and marketing, product development groups, value chain and manufacturing.

  • Overseeing project progress and costs; communicating status with stakeholders and participating functional areas; addressing and resolving problems.

  • Directing project staffing; motivating and developing project team and team members.

  • Deliver project reporting to update stakeholders and ensure timely delivery.

What You Skills You Will Have:

  • Qualification Requirements Requires a degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum or qualified by relevant job-related experience.

  • Products and Services: Knowledge of major products and services and product and service groups; ability to apply knowledge of product and service appropriately to diverse situations. Level Extensive Experience:

  • Technical Excellence: Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges .Level Extensive Experience:

  • Influencing Through Expertise: Knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies; ability to use these to deepen own expertise and impact or challenge decisions within and outside own organization. Level Extensive Experience:

  • Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives. Level Expert:

  • Team Management: Knowledge of effective team building techniques; ability to form and manage effective teams. Level Extensive Experience:

  • Requirements Analysis: Knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyze and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project. Level Extensive Experience:

Top candidates will demonstrate:

  • Strong technical skills with sound knowledge of foundational engineering concepts. Degree level education in an Engineering discipline, with experience of working in a product development environment.

  • Strong commitment to product safety and quality, with excellent communication and influencing skills at all levels.

  • Technical understanding of powertrain systems, batteries, and engines.

  • An ability to, review regulations and product standards, and provide guidance to engineers and other business functions.

  • Experience of developing technical reports that demonstrate product capability or compliance to standards.
