DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Registered Nurse Supervisor, you are vital in providing exemplary clinical supervision and leadership at Torrance State Hospital. Your strong communication and organizational skills and daily physical presence will guide the planning, direction, control, and evaluation of patient care across multiple care areas. Your supervision of professional and non-professional nursing personnel is crucial for ensuring the continuity of quality patient care. As a nurse supervisor, you will embrace the opportunity to participate in staff development programs, providing ongoing education and training to nursing personnel. This is an opportunity for you to advocate for patient care across multiple patient areas, ensuring active treatment and exceptional patient care delivery. Additionally, you will implement and adhere to hospital and nursing policies, engage in improvement activities, communicate compassionately, and hold advanced crisis prevention certification to maintain patient and staff safety and a healthy environment.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hour work week

  • Work hours are 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, with a 30-minute lunch.

  • Irregular schedule details include working a rotating schedule that includes weekends and holidays when scheduled. During a 2 week work period, the RNS will have every other weekend off and 2 other days off.

  • May change based on operational needs.

  • Overtime and travel as needed

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years as a Registered Nurse (commonwealth title); or

  • Four years of professional nursing experience providing care and treatment services consistent with those needed for individuals with a mental or physical injury or illness and/or a developmental disability.

    Special Requirements:

  • All positions require active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.

  • All employees possessing an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.

    Other Requirements:

  • PA residency requirement (https://www.employment.pa.gov/Additional%20Info/Pages/default.aspx) is currently waived for this title.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

    Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.

  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
