Summary: The Field Applications and prototype testing Technician is responsible for coordinating and collecting targeted contractor feedback. This position will operate with multiple teams across the organization to contribute to initiatives and product improvement that influence commercial contractor efficiency, as well as product and system improvement. Collecting data to reveal opportunities to reduce contractor’s labor cost and increase operational efficiency, as well as, building and field testing prototypes are among the key responsibilities.

Essential Duties:

  • Collect and report information from contractors and distill them down to key insights and document.

  • Lead and build a Tinker Lab space at ISO plant in Peru, IL to help build product prototypes on novel ideas and maintain safe operation of the lab.

  • Maintain customer relationships, input and feedback by attending major trade events as necessary.

  • Presentation of information to internal and external audiences may be required.

  • Champion the systems-based solution development by translating all facets of customer insights into actionable problem-solving opportunities for the business.

  • Work with R&D, Marketing, and Technical teams to build, field test and modify product prototypes that improve resiliency, efficiency, cost effectiveness, and/or ease of installation.

Job Requirements:

  • Any relevant 4-year engineering degree (Mechanical, Chemical, Materials, Civil engineering) or 2-year college degree

  • This position will include the need to travel around the United States.

  • Travel will include air travel, as well as considerable driving within a reasonable distance.

  • Operation of photographic, video, and other types of recording or measuring devices to obtain empirical data will be required.

  • Must be proficient in mechanical design software (e.g. Solid works etc.) to create and build engineering models using commercial 3D printers.

  • Utilization of a survey system to catalog internal and external feedback to influence product and service creation or modification will be required.

  • This position requires active jobsite visits both at the time of material installation and system inspection.

  • Experience with use of computers, cameras, and various necessary software to record, analyze and report relevant data.

  • CAD software and 3D printing

  • Ability to build and maintain strategic working relationships throughout the organization

  • Ability to present information to various audiences in various venues

  • Ability to adapt to various environments for collecting and reporting information

  • Communication skills, both verbal and written, in-person and virtual

  • Project Management
