The Sr. Principal Systems Engineer – Embedded Software is the classification typically reserved for a single incumbent or a limited number of individuals with highly developed specialties in research and development or design area.

YOUR IMPACT:

  • Responsible for completion of a complex project on time.

  • Will be responsible for overall project schedule and budget.

  • Responsible for managing multiple priorities.

  • Collaborate as needed with other engineering business support disciplines internally as well as suppliers externally.

  • May have exposure to the external customers and/or industry organizations.

  • Provide guidance or mentorship to entry level engineers working on a common project.

  • Perform and check complex engineering calculations, investigations, and tasks as assigned according to Oshkosh, as well as general industry, engineering standards and processes.

  • Responsible for the preparation and delivery of complex plans, designs, computation methods, and/or reporting.

  • Research, create, and update standard engineering methodology and procedures - best practices, etc.

  • Plans and directs the technical aspects of the most highly complex research and development programs.

  • Synthesizes and analyzes studies which required application of advanced knowledge in a specific field.

  • May provide project direction and technical counsel to lower-level engineers.

  • Research, study, and propose the use of new technologies to be used in the development of new and improved products.

  • Prepare technical proposals and presentations.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Regular attendance is required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Accredited Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field with eight (8) or more years of related experience.

STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Accredited Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer or Electrical Engineering.

  • Familiarity with JavaScript, JSON, Python, and SQL database in addition to embedded C/C++.

Decisions require considerable judgment, initiative and ingenuity in areas there is little precedent.

  • Supervisory/Managerial: General instructing, scheduling, and reviewing the work of others performing the same or directly related work. Acts as “lead worker”.
