Job Title: 3rd Shift Quality TechnicianJob Description
In this role, you will initially train on 1st shift for the first few months before transitioning to 3rd shift. You will operate a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), including some of the largest CMM machines in the United States. The products measured can be up to 9 feet long, and you will need to communicate effectively with people on the shop floor. The CMM will be preprogrammed through PC-Dmis. Once you transition to 3rd shift, you will work autonomously.
Responsibilities
Operate CMM machines, including some of the largest in the United States.
Measure products up to 9 feet long.
Communicate with personnel on the shop floor.
Ensure quality control and inspection of products.
Read and interpret blueprints.
Use hand gauges for measurement.
Essential Skills
Experience in inspection and quality control.
Proficiency in operating CMM machines.
Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
Experience with quality assurance and quality inspection.
Use of micrometers and other hand gauges.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in working with metals.
Knowledge of PC-Dmis for preprogrammed CMM operations.
Programming skills are a plus but not required.
Ability to work autonomously on 3rd shift.
Experience with tight tolerances.
Work Environment
You will be working in a clean environment, with a climate-controlled quality lab. The plant is well-maintained and supports a medium-sized machining operation. The company manufactures retarders for railroads, braking systems, and switch machines for trains. The facility employs approximately 70 people and works as an OEM supplier. The team values a clean and controlled working environment.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $27.00/hr.
